What is Day of Champions?
Day of Champions is organised by Riders for Health and raises money for their work in Africa. There is no other day like it, in any sport. People who buy paddock pass tickets can get into the exclusive paddock and pit-lane and see the teams and riders preparing for the race weekend. There is action all day in the Entertainment Zone. This includes live music, interviews, quizzes, and stunt shows. The climax of the day is the Riders for Health auction. The stars of MotoGP take part in the live auction, donating signed leathers, boots, helmets and one-off prints for lucky members of the crowd to bid for and take home. There is also the chance to bid on exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. But above everything Day of Champions is about supporting Riders for Health's work in Africa. It is a chance to prove that motorcycles really do save lives.
What time do the gates open for Day of Champions?
Gates open at 9.00am. There is one longer paddock session again this year from 11.00am – 3.00pm. The auction starts at 3.00pm.
Are there restrictions on paddock tickets again this year?
Instead of having two short sessions in the paddock, like last year there will be one longer session from 11.00am – 3.00pm. This means that paddock pass holders can have longer to wander around the exclusive paddock and pit-lane. However, for safety reasons, there will be a limit on the number of people allowed in the paddock therefore ticket restrictions remain. These tickets are sure to sell out very quickly so make sure you don’t miss out.
Will I get to see all my favourite riders at Day of Champions?
Hundreds of people see and even speak to some of the riders, but we can’t guarantee that you will see or get to speak to any rider. The privilege of the day lies in being able to see behind the scenes, enjoy the action in the Entertainment Zone and, if you booked enough in advance, to see the paddock and pit-lane. The auction which finishes off the day is the real chance to see the riders in person. All the MotoGP riders will try to make an appearance at the auction on the main stage, and will give something they own up for auction to help our cause. The auction starts at 3.00pm.
Where will the money raised from Day of Champions go?
In 2015 we have frozen prices for Day of Champions, and every pound raised will help enable African health workers to carry on riding motorcycles over tough rural terrain, reaching people in need of vital health care. To find out more about Riders for Health you can visit their website www.riders.org or email email@example.com
