The MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship reaches the penultimate round of the Showdown at Silverstone on 4/5/6 October and with the six Title Fighters needing every critical point available the racing is expected to be explosive as they battle for the two race wins
Shane 'Shakey' Byrne and the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki team are back on track to defend their title this year but in his quest to become the most successful rider in the championship history he must first defeat triple champion Ryuichi Kiyonari who is back with Samsung Honda.
Samsung Honda’s young gun Alex Lowes was a double winner at the Northamptonshire circuit last year and he will be seeking a maiden title but Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes won’t be happy to settle for the runner-up spot again.
2011 champions Milwaukee Yamaha have a new line up to match their new livery and former title contender James Ellison returns alongside double Australian Superbike champion Josh Waters as they bid to recapture the title for the team.
You also can’t discount the challenges from Splitlath Redmond Aprilia’s Jakub Smrz and Mark Aitchison who joined the championship from the world stage and also the Buildbase BMW team of Jon Kirkham and James Westmoreland.
The event will also feature the penultimate round of the fiercely-contested Motorpoint British Supersport Championship, the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 and 600 Championships, the Monster Energy British Motostar, the Ducati 848 Challenge, the Triumph Triple Challenge and the Eastern Airways British Sidecar Championship.
