Silverstone, the home of British Motor Racing are ecstatic to be hosting the opening round of Formula Vintage – A new name for Vintage Sports-Car Club Racing.

For those that love their racing we will have plenty of on track action….

With over 80 years’ of racing knowledge Formula Vintage are no strangers to what cars will impress on Silverstone’s famous National Circuit. With Pre-war and Historic trophy races highlighting the very best of Pre-war racers against like for like machinery the track will be action packed. Those coming along will get to witness Pre-1931 Vintage Racing Cars, Pre-1961 Racing Cars and road-going Pre-war Sports-Cars all competing to win the trophy.

With free access to the paddock there couldn’t be a better time to get your historic fix.

Off track entertainment

For those wanting more, we have plenty of off track entertainment planned to keep the whole family occupied. With a Vintage fun fair, massage trailer (perfect for those wanting to take a bit of time out!), Mini train rides – great for the little ones, Steam engine and tractor displays, oodles of Vintage car displays and Army interactive zone with real-life military vehicles.

Taking you back in time, Perfect Vintage will be performing songs from the 1940’s and giving everyone the opportunity to learn how to jive throughout Saturday. Want to come on Sunday? Candy Girls will be performing vintage harmonies that will take you right back to yesteryear.

If this isn’t enough and you want to test your own driving skills, we will have a range of supercars including Aston Martin V8’s and Ferrari V8 F430 Coupes that you can take out on the International Circuit – make sure you book yours in advance.

Race Details

A regular programme of six Pre-war and Historic trophy races will top the bill at Silverstone, highlighting the very best of Pre-war racers against like for like machinery, featuring Pre-1931 Vintage Racing Cars, Pre-1961 Racing Cars and road-going Pre-war Sports-Cars, as well as eclectic Pre-war line-ups for our ever-popular All-Comers Scratch and Handicap formats.

To complement the year’s ‘Vintage’ content, we also look forward to welcoming competitors from many of the UK’s other celebrated Historic and Classic race series, including long-time associates the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association (HGPCA), Formula Junior and 500 Owners Association, prominent 1950s/60s Series FISCAR and HRDC, and some newer supporters in the Morgan Challenge Series and Classic Ferrari.

2017 will see Formula Vintage visit five famous British circuits, with each Meeting headlined by one of the Club’s prestigious trophy collections, celebrating such British Racing legends of the Pre- and Post-war eras as Mike Hawthorn and Richard Seaman.

Perfect Vintage (Saturday only)

Step back in time to the 1940’s…

Brian and Cherie are a vocal duo who have performed all over the U.K. and are highly regarded in the vintage scene. Their fun performances, great sense of humour and love for all things 1940s shines through along with a great rapport with the audience.

You can expect to hear all the classic songs from the wartime era and also from the 1930’s guaranteed to take you on a wonderful nostalgic trip. Brian and Cherie will also be offering Jive lessons.


Candy Girls (Sunday only)

The Candy Girls are comprised of talented performers who have been working in the industry for a number of years – their impressive West End and international tour credits include Les Miserable at the Palace Theatre London, Starlight Express at Theater Bochum Germany, Thriller (UK tour), Magic of the Musicals (UK tour), Abba Mania International Tour & many more!

As well as being great friends on and off stage, the girls share a love of all things vintage and harmonious! They enjoy a great musical partnership and above all value their wonderful “vocal blend” that is often commented on – this combined with their tight choreography and natural stage personalities really sets them apart from other three-part harmony trios.

Vintage Funfair

As an additional attraction for this event in 2017, spectators can enjoy a Vintage themed funfair experience, including period rides, games and attractions that will appeal to the whole family, PLUS instant prizes and rewards for lucky visitors throughout the day.

Rock Choir

Rock Choir was started in Farnham, Surrey in 2005 by musician and singer, Caroline Redman Lusher. Rock Choir pioneered the contemporary choir movement in the UK and was the first choir to offer the general public the chance to sing pop, rock and chart songs with no entry audition and or any previous singing experience.

Rock Choir will be performing in the Pit Stop Cafe on Saturday evening between 19:00-21:00.

Helisa Massage Trailer

A modern, stylish and totally relaxing mobile massage trailer will be at Silverstone over the weekend offering the following treatments: Seated massage; Reflexology & Indian head massages.

These treatments will be available from £12:

    Yes, Silverstone shops sell a variety of merchandise! The Paddock Shop will be open during the weekend. Alternatively buy online in advance to avoid disappointment!

    Yes Silverstone merchandise shops sell these essential items. Please download the event map to find their locations (closer to the event).

  • Can I use my pushbike around the circuit?

    Bikes can sometimes be used at the circuit though they are not advised at the larger events as the circuit is too busy.


    Yes this is possible – please ensure that the staff at the gate stamp your hand as you leave the circuit. Re entry to the site will only be permitted if the person has their hand stamped and is in possession of a valid ticket for the event. Please review the timetable to check last re-entry times each day.

  • Can i take photos?

    Photographic equipment, mobile telephones and other private communication devices are permitted within the venue provided that they are for personal and private non commercial purposes.

  • when will my tickets be despatched?

    Ticket despatch starts four to six weeks prior to the Event but tickets may be sent out up to a week before the Event.

  • I have not received my tickets by post?

    Ticket despatch starts four to six weeks before the event, but tickets may be sent out anytime up until one week prior to the event. You will receive your tickets in advance either via First Class Royal Mail post or APC courier delivery. If you have not received your tickets please contact 0844 3750 740.

  • My ticket confirmation has my old delivery address on it, what should i do?

    Please forward the confirmation email to us on detailing your new address and a daytime contact number. We will then arrange for tickets to be despatched to your new address.

  • Ticket collection location and opening hours

    There is no ticket collection for this event.

  • Do children need a ticket

    Yes, children aged 15 and under will need a ticket for entry to the venue. Please ensure that you select the number of child tickets you require at the time of purchasing.   • Can i purchase a ticket at the gate?

    Yes you can – we highly recommend buying in advance to avoid disappointment and to take advantage of the best ticket prices.

  • Where can i park/ travel options?

    To ensure your visit to Silverstone runs as smoothly as possible please ensure you leave plenty of time for your journey and to make the most of your day. Parking onsite is free (with the exception of the British Grand Prix and MotoGP), please follow signs for public parking and take directions from our parking stewards. The nearest mainline train stations are Milton Keynes and Northampton. please check connecting bus services in order to ensure you arrive at Silverstone at a convenient time. Alternatively taxi journeys are approximately 30 minutes from these stations to Silverstone.


    Silverstone is situated between three stations; Northampton, Milton Keynes and Banbury. They are all approximately 30 minutes from Silverstone.

  • What time do gates open?

    8am each day.


    Car parks open up to half an hour before Circuit Gate Opening Times. Please note that this is subject to change.

  • Do i need a parking permit for my motorcycle

    Parking for motorcycles is free and a permit is not required to park.

  • Can i camp at Silverstone?

    Internal camping pitches will be available at this event for £45 per pitch . Pitches are 7m x 9m.

  • Food & Drink

    We have a wide range of vendors to suite all tastes, serving a variety of traditional hot snacks including burgers, fish and chips, jacket potatoes, pies, paninis and of course vegetarian food. There are also a number of licensed bars serving beer and other refreshments. Please kindly note that glass bottles are not permitted within the circuit at any time and you will be asked to leave any at the gates should you try to bring them in.


    Silverstone Circuits Ltd and the police have a zero tolerance policy to illegal substances. The dealing in or use of illegal drugs is not condoned by Silverstone Circuits Ltd. Drug enforcement laws are as applicable on site as anywhere else in the country. Police officers and security guards will be onsite and will deal with drug offences in accordance with national guidelines. Neither anti-social nor illegal behaviour will be tolerated. You may be searched at the entrance. Any items which the organisers consider may be used in an illegal or offensive manner will be confiscated. Persons suspected of carrying out illegal and/ or offensive activities onsite may be searched. Offenders will be escorted off the site, and refused re-admission.
