Silverstone announces NEW Rookie Drive Experience
‘Rookie Drive’ course for junior drivers introduced at Silverstone
£45 Rookie Super Choice Voucher on sale for Christmas
Silverstone, the UK’s premier motor sport venue, has recently developed a NEW Driving Experience, Rookie Drive, which provides essential driver training for younger members of the family.
This Rookie Drive road skills initiative provides teenagers aged 13 years and upwards with an ideal opportunity to find out for the first time what it’s like to be behind the wheel of a car, in a dual-control Renault Clio.
Rookie Drive is designed to take place in a controlled environment at Silverstone with expert guidance from Silverstone’s fully qualified driving instructors. Participants will learn to familiarise themselves with clutch control, gear changes, pulling away and navigating around obstacles. Silverstone’s students graduating from this two-hour driving course will be awarded a certificate to take away with them, along with their new found skills and a basic understanding of how to become a proficient and safe driver.
Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, said,
“Silverstone is delighted to be able to extend its range of Driving Experiences to now also offer professional driver training for young adults. Rookie Drive will show teenagers how to be safe when starting out as a learner driver and it will give them a head start, as well as being a fun experience. We are always keen to encourage and support safe driving on the roads and look forward to bringing Renault Clio 200 Cup cars to the circuit for the purpose of training up a new generation of drivers.”
Silverstone’s Rookie Drive course is available as part of Silverstone’s NEW Rookie Super Choice Voucher (priced at £45)*. It is the first time that the circuit has ever offered a junior Super Choice Voucher, and this ideal Christmas gift gives teenagers the choice to try out either the Rookie Drive or Rage Buggy Experience, Hot Rides or Tour Silverstone
The Rage Buggy Experience involves tackling off-road terrain, on a purpose-built course at Silverstone, in one of the lightweight and specially prepared Rage Buggy vehicles. Hot Rides are high speed passenger rides around Silverstone, and Tour Silverstone is a two-hour guided trip which provides behind the scenes views of the circuit (the £45 Rookie Super Choice Voucher allowing access on the Tour for one adult and one child under 16 years of age).
All of Silverstone’s Driving Experiences** include the highest level of tuition from fully professional instructors. For further information on the full range of Driving Experiences available at Silverstone, visit
