Sky Sports stars and celebrity guests will be dancing for charity at the Silverstone Wing on 22 and 23 March 2013, in a bid to raise money for two worthwhile charities, Cure for Dylan and Caring Matters Now.
The celebrities, Olympic athletes and sports presenters have embarked on a six-week training programme with professional dance partners and will be performing three routines on each evening in front of a host of Strictly Come Dancing contestants and celebrity judges, including former England cricketer Mark Ramprakash and celebrated British swimmer Mark Foster on the Friday, and Strictly’s former judge Arlene Phillips and ex-Daybreak presenter Dan Lobb on the Saturday.
Tickets are now on sale for this exclusive event and are likely to sell quickly, as fans of dance and sport secure their chance to see couples dance a Waltz, Jive and freestyle routine in front of the judges. On each night one couple will be crowned ‘Dancing with Sky’s Stars Champion’. Compere on Friday will be Charlie Webster and on Saturday the event compere will be Soccer AM’s Max Rushden.
Celebrity dancers include*:- Orla Chennaoui, Vicky Gomersall, Natalie Sawyer, Julian Warren, Mike Wedderburn (all Sky Sports), Kay Burley, Charlotte Hawkins (Sky News), Kelly Sotherton (Olympic Bronze Medallist), Johnny Nelson (Cruiserweight World Boxing Champion)
Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuit, commented: “We are delighted to be hosting this event for such worthwhile charities. Whilst raising money for good causes this is also an opportunity to show off the versatility of the Silverstone Wing.”
Sky Sports Mike Wedderburn, organiser and competitor, said: “Having already embarked on three weeks of training I am confident that the audience are in for a real treat! The dancers and teachers at Step by Step dance school are doing a wonderful job and I would also like to thank our sponsors, Ridgeway, De Boer, MACE, Silverstone Circuit and The View from the Shard for making it possible to run this event.”
The dance competition will be followed by music from live ten-piece party band ‘Jive Honey’, giving the audience an opportunity to get out of their seats and join in the fun.
Tickets are now on sale and fall into three price categories - £60, £35 and £25 per night. Doors open at 18:00hrs and the event will start at 19:00hrs. There will be a bar available serving food and drink.
