MOTO2 star Sam Lowes is looking to add to his win in Austin, Texas earlier in the year with victory in the World Championship round at Silverstone on August 30.
Lowes, 24, is confident his experience around the Northamptonshire circuit can be the difference in the 18-lap race – round 12 of the 18-round Championship.
“Silverstone is a great circuit, I’ve enjoyed some great races there and there’s nothing can ever match racing in front of your home fans,” said Lowes.
Lowes arrived in Moto2 for the 2014 campaign having dominated the 2013 World Supersport Championship, taking the title with eight wins.
He finished 13th in his Moto2 rookie year but is fifth in the current championship having taken a win, three podium finishes and seven top five finished in the 10 races so far.
“Getting everything right in Moto2 is never easy but we’re working at it and improving as a team race by race,” added Lowes. “Right now I’m ready to kick on for the second half of the season and a win at Silverstone would definitely be the highlight of the year so I’ll be doing everything to achieve that.”
Lowes is joined on the Moto2 grid at Silverstone by wild card rider and exciting prospect Bradley Ray. The 18-year-old former Red Bull Rookies rider from Lydd in Kent will campaign a British-built FTR.
