Dovizioso talks Ducati challenge

Andrea Dovizioso has spoken of his decision to leave Tech 3 Yamaha and join the factory Ducati MotoGP team for the next two seasons.

Andrea Dovizioso has spoken of his decision to leave Tech 3 Yamaha and join the factory Ducati MotoGP team for the next two seasons.

Dovizioso has signed to replace the departing Valentino Rossi and is thus leaving a team with which he has taken five podiums so far this year, for a team that has been on the rostrum just once in 2012.

"I signed yesterday [Wednesday]. It was a big decision. I'm so happy and so excited to be part of the project with Ducati Audi," said Dovizioso at Brno on Thrusday.

"I spoke with [Ducati president] Del Torchio and [Ducati Corse general manager] Preziosi. They explained the project and also the coming of Audi. So it looks like there are many things [underway] to get a result.

"The present situation at Ducati everybody knows. I hope and I'm confident of working together to get a result. I can't say more than that because nobody knows exactly how the bike is and how Ducati is if you don't try."

Dovizioso, who is fourth and the top satellite rider in the world championship, will ride alongside Nicky Hayden next season. Hayden is missing this weekend's Brno round due to injury.

Dovi was a factory Honda rider from 2009-2011. He took his first and so far only MotoGP race win at Donington Park in 2009.
