First image of Joan Lascorz since accident

Joan Lascorz is shown smiling in the first image to be publically published since his terrible accident three months ago.

An image of Joan Lascorz, the first since his horrific accident during World Superbike testing at Imola three months ago, has been publically released.

The Spaniard is currently undergoing intensive rehabilitation at the Guttmann Institute in Barcelona following the incident that left him no feeling in his abdominal area and legs.

Posing with Albert Llovera, a former alpine skier-turned-rally driver who was paralysed at the age of 18 during a competition in Sarajevo, the image appears to confirm that Lascorz has regained movement in his upper limbs, including hands and arms.

Posting the photograph to his personal Facebook page, Llovera, who currently competes in the Super 2000 World Rally Championship driving a hand-controlled Fiat Abarth Punto, added the following message.

"I am here with one of my mates from the "Guttmann Team" Joan Lascorz jejeje, a few days ago I was visiting him in his room and now he has been visiting me in mine the whole week. One day we are at the top and the next... we don't even know. Let's enjoy everyday and every moment."

Kawasaki rider Lascorz is understood to be undergoing several hours of physiotherapy every day and must continue to do so for the next 3 to 4 months.
