Guintoli stays with Effenbert-Liberty for 2012
Sylvain Guintoli stays with Effenbert-Liberty after ending their first World Superbike season together in sixth place overall.
Sylvain Guintoli has firmed his plans for the 2012 World Superbike Championship season by agreeing to stay with the Effenbert-Liberty team.
Guintoli switched to the burgeoning Czech outfit alongside Jakub Smrz in 2011 after losing his ride with Suzuki Alstare with an eye on cracking his WSBK podium duck.
A high-speed crash in the opening race of the season that left him with a broken ankle hampered his form initially, but Guintoli would eventually reach the rostrum for the first time at Miller Motorsports Park, a feat he would repeat at Nurburgring and Portimao.
Indeed, a strong second half of the season, which would see him finish each of the final ten races inside the top seven, would lift him up to an eventual sixth in the overall standings and as a best full satellite rider.
With this in mind, Guintoli says it was an easy decision to pledge his future to Effenbert-Liberty for next season.
"I am very happy to stay in the Effenbert Liberty Racing Team," he said. "I felt very good, both from the technical and from the human point of view and now I have developed a very good feeling with the Ducati that suits my riding style well and is giving me great satisfactions. I am very motivated and am sure that next year we will improve. It will be a great season!
