Haslam targets return to podium at Magny-Cours

Leon Haslam sets his sights on reaching the podium before the 2011 World Superbike season finishes.

Leon Haslam has signalled his determination to get on the podium before his first World Superbike Championship season with BMW comes to a close, starting with Magny-Cours.

The Briton has notched up two rostrum finishes aboard the S1000RR this year, though he hasn't peaked as high as third since the Monza round back in May.

Though Haslam remains on course to secure fifth in the standings - the first time a BMW rider has finished inside the top ten overall -, the Briton wants to go into the off-season on a high with notable results in France and Portugal.

"Magny-Cours has always been a pretty good circuit for me," he said. "Last year, I rode my very first laps on the BMW S 1000 RR there. It is always a little bit cold when we get there, but it is the same for everybody. We have two races to go, and we definitely want to get back on the podium. These last couple of races are very important.

"Magny-Cours is a circuit that should suit the RR. You have a lot of heavy downhill braking and corners that require you to switch down from sixth gear to fourth gear. As a result, the stability of the bike is once again very important for this circuit. It is also crucial to have the right set-up for the conditions.
