Yamaha suggests it has a WSBK future
With many announcements due to come over the next few weeks, one of interest will be whether the Yamaha name will stay in some form next season.
Just two rounds remain before Yamaha bids farewell to the World Superbike Championship in a factory capacity, though rumours swirling the paddock suggest it will be back in some form next season.
Indeed, ParkinGO boss Giuliano Rovelli has already suggested that Yamaha Europe is in talks with an 'Anglo-South African' operation to run its team in 2012, though nothing official has been revealed as yet.
Even so, Yamaha did raise some eyebrows recently by partaking in the recent Misano test, where it got the opportunity to sample the Pirelli tyres that are being developed for the 2012 season.
Furthermore, a small, but potentially telling comment in Yamaha's post-Imola press release could suggest there is a future for the manufacturer, with Andrea Dosoli saying:
"We are aware that our R1 struggles on this track [Imola] but we also know what needs to be improved for the future."
Whether that 'future' is referring to the next two rounds, or next season, remains to be seen, but with only a fraction of the grid decided for 2012, much is expected to be revealed over the coming weeks…
