Although 2008 champion Shane "Shakey" Byrne has opted for a move to World Superbikes in 2009, the competition isn't set to diminish one jot. The GSE team have a crown to defend, and with Leon Camier and James Ellison on-board their factory Yamahas, that's exactly what the duo will be aiming to do.

The category's strength is highlighted by strong factory support from leading manufacturers and Glen Richards and Josh Brookes front HM Plant Honda's championship challenge, while Suzuki has landed the highly sought-after former MotoGP rider Sylvain Guintoli.

But it's not just about the British Superbike Championship. There's a two-wheel feast on show for the fans as a plethora of support categories fill the day. The Henderson Harley-Davidson XR1200 Trophy and Focused Events KTM RC8 Cup are just two of the championships lining up alongside the BSB stars. It's the best possible way to cast your eyes across the stars of the future.

As the 11th of 12 rounds in a season which begins in April and concludes in October, the British Superbike Championship is one of the most competitive and hard fought in the world. With the penultimate race of the season being held at Silverstone, one of the most challenging circuits in Britain, there'll be no let up in the competition until the last lap is run.

Away from the track there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained.
