Drive Silverstone FAQ’s

Prior to your departure to the venue please consider the following;

  • If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms; a new persistent cough, a high temperature, a loss of sense of taste or smell you should not attend the venue, and you must following Public Health England advice.
  • You must not attend the venue if you have at any time in the past 3 weeks knowingly been in contact with anyone who currently has or has had at any time during the past 3 weeks any symptoms relating to COVID-19, except as a healthcare professional.
  • If you live in an area which is currently restricted with local lockdown measures we ask that you check your local authority guidance. In the majority of areas travel for leisure activities is permitted, provided you remain within your household bubble. We take measures on our Drive Events to keep all attendees safe, and ask that you only attend with people within your household bubble, in no more than one vehicle. There are measures across the site such as hand santising stations and one way systems, we ask all attendees to remain a safe social distance at all times. Should you have any concerns about the restrictions in your local area please contact a member of the team.

If you are unable to attend for the above reasons you must:

  • Send an email to as soon as you are aware, if this is on the day please phone us on 01327 320421
  • Notifications must reach us by 8.30am on the day of your booked Experience. Non-notification will be treated as a no show and no refund and/or reschedule will be permitted
  • You must arrange a COVID-19 swab test, sending the test results within 7 days.  We will then be able to re schedule your Experience, Rebooked Experiences must be taken within 3 months from the date of your original Experience Date.

What additional measures will be in place for my experience?

Our team has worked hard to incorporate the latest government guidance into our experiences. We continue to monitor all updates and advice. We currently have restrictions in place on guest numbers to allow for effective social distancing throughout your experience. There will be hand sanitising stations and our staff will be wearing PPE. We’re also following strict cleaning protocols across the site, equipment and vehicles. You will receive a video link with your joining instructions which provides more information on what to expect.

Will my experience run in all weather conditions?

Ensuring you enjoy your driving experience is at the core of what we do. We know how excited you will have been in the lead up to your day. Please rest assured that we do not make the decision to cancel an event lightly, our Driving experiences will continue to run in wet weather (Some of our instructors will vouch that it can make it even more fun!). Your event will only be cancelled in extreme conditions which could impact on the safety and enjoyment of the experience. We ask that you please ensure your contact details are up to date on your My Silverstone account and should you be concerned about the conditions on the day please regularly check your emails, our social media accounts and website where any cancellations will be announced.

I cannot print my tickets

Please don’t worry if you are unable to print or download your tickets. You will be emailed full joining instructions prior to your booked day which will contain all the information you need.

What time should I arrive?

We’re currently asking that you arrive approximately 40 minutes before your booked time, this may change dependent on your experience so please check your joining instructions for confirmation.

I have not had a reply back to a recently sent enquiry

We are currently working with a reduced team and are handling a large number of enquiries. As a result of this if your query is covered within our FAQs we will be unable to respond to you at this time. We ask that you please check our FAQs before sending an enquiry. If your query is not covered a member of the team will respond to you as soon as possible.

I have a voucher I need to re-book

Do you have a contact number I need to speak to someone?

Unfortunately our phone lines are currently closed. Please check our FAQs to see if your query is covered. We have an event line which is manned on the day of your drive event, this number will be sent with your joining instructions (Please be advised this number is only manned on the day of your event and we are unable to resolve general enquiries on this line).

Do I have to wear a mask?

We will not be enforcing the use of masks, if you and your guest would feel more comfortable wearing masks this is absolutely fine. Our staff will be wearing face masks where social distancing cannot be maintained and should you wish to we will have face coverings available to purchase on the day.

Will social distancing be in place?

Yes social distancing measures will be in place for your experience and we ask that you adhere to the 1 metre plus guidelines. There will be one way systems in place throughout the venue to assist in maintaining these distances. There will be points in your experience where our staff will be required to come closer than the 1 metre distance, this is for safety reasons such as ensuring helmet fit and safety belt checks. Please rest assured that our staff will be wearing face masks and gloves which will be changed between customers.

Can my Family attend with me and where can they view from?

Of course! Due to current social distancing guidelines advised by the Government we are only able to permit a maximum one car, and up to 4 guests per booking. There are some great vantage points from around the facility for your guest to view you channelling your racing idols, a member of our team will be happy to point out the best viewing locations when you arrive on site.

Will you be carrying out temperature checks?

We will be carrying out temperature checks on all arrivals at Silverstone. Please ensure you leave extra time for this.

What should I wear?

You need to ensure you’re comfortable to drive, we recommend wearing long sleeves and shoes with a flat, flexible sole. Flip-flops and high heels are not permitted. As an open circuit we also recommend wearing clothing suitable to the forecasted weather and layers. If you’re set to drive one of our open top vehicles, such as the Formula Silverstone or Caterham, please note that wet weather suits are not provided, so it may be best to bring a change of clothes with you just in case.

Do I need gloves?

Should you require gloves for your experience these will be provided for you. If you would prefer to wear your own gloves where these are not provided that is absolutely fine.

Are you provided with a helmet and race suit?

Drive Silverstone will provide you with a race specification helmet which has gone through a strict anti-bacterial cleaning regime. Race suits are not a requirement for any of our Drive Silverstone experiences, but should you wish to channel your racing idols you’re welcome to wear your own.

Is there a restaurant on site?

A selection of hot and cold catering options and refreshments will be available for you to purchase on the day, you’re also welcome to bring your own food and drinks.

Is there disability access and toilets?

There is disability access to all of our main facilities and disabled toilets available in these locations. The nature of some of our experiences will require you to travel to more remote areas of our facility were toilets are not provided, when this is the case your Silverstone Host will make you aware before travelling to these locations.

Do I need to pay for parking?

There is ample free parking on site.

Are there baby changing facilities?

There are baby changing facilities in our main locations. The nature of some of our experiences will require you to travel to more remote areas of our facility were baby changing facilities are not provided, when this is the case your Silverstone Host will make you aware before travelling to these locations.

Will I be driving on the Formula 1 track?

Our experiences run on a variety of our famous track configurations, all picked with the aim of maximising your experience. Whilst your specific experience may not see you hitting the Grand Prix tarmac, Drive Silverstone are the only experience at the Home of British Motorsport and the British Grand Prix, the atmosphere is undeniable from the minute you pass through our security gates.

Do I need to bring my license?

Yes, our team will carry out a visual check on your license on the day of your experience. For this we do require your license, a photo or photocopy will not be accepted.

My license is an old style paper license, is that ok?

This is absolutely fine, please just remember to bring it with you on the day.

Can I bring my GoPro?

Whilst we allow you to film in any of the communal areas of the experience we are unable to allow the use of GoPro’s or any other similar filming equipment during your driving experience. Health and Safety policy prevents us from permitting these into your vehicle. We have a range of photo and video options which can be purchased on the day should you wish to capture the memories of your Drive Silverstone experience.

Am I allowed to take photos?

Yes! We always love seeing your photos from the day, whether it’s seeing you hitting the apex at Abbey or channelling your racing idols in the Formula Silverstone, we welcome you and your guests to take as many images as you wish. Unfortunately we are unable to allow you take any images from within the vehicle during your Drive Silverstone experience.

What entrance do I go to when I arrive?

You will be sent detailed joining instructions on the week prior to your experience. Keep an eye on your emails for the most up to date information relevant to your experience.

What happens if I am running late?

We ask you to leave plenty of time to arrive ahead of your experience. There is a 10-15 minute drive from the site entrance to your experience and you need to leave time for your arrival and license checks. Unfortunately due to capacity requirements if you miss your group safety briefing time you will be unable to drive and your experience will be lost.
