Race Details

A three-hour GT World Challenge powered by AWS race will take place on Sunday afternoon, with each competing car featuring two or three drivers. The series is organised by SRO Motorsports Group and forms part of the global GT World Challenge powered by AWS, which combines results from Europe, Asia and America to crown an international manufacturers’ champion.

The GT World Challenge powered by AWS features highly accomplished professional drivers, such as Raffaele Marciello, Mirko Bortolotti and Dries Vanthoor, competing for overall honours. Amateur drivers also play a major role in the championship, and have included famous names such as Top Gear’s Chris Harris and former Manchester United goalkeeper Fabien Barthez.

Support Races

The GT4 European Series, a highly-competitive championship that supports GT World Challenge powered by AWS at six events, will stage its season-opening race at Silverstone. Further support action will come from leading development category Formula Renault Eurocup, which sees motor racing’s stars of tomorrow do battle in identical single-seater equipment.

About GT World

GT World Challenge is a new international championship organised by SRO Motorsports Group.

First launched in 2019 as Blancpain GT World Challenge, the concept unites three continental championships to create a comprehensive global platform.

Brands competing in all three series are eligable to compete for the global GT World Challenge title through their customer squads, with points awarded to the best-finishing car per brand in each class. The allocation differs depending on the event format: 25 are on offer at sprint races, while 100 will be awarded at the Total Spa 24 Hours. The number of points scored is multiplied by the amount of cars competing in each class to give the final total.

Last year the title was won by Mercedes- AMG, which defeated fierce rival Ferrari to be crowned champion. 2020 will represent the 2nd season for the global GT World Challenge format and features an expanded schedule. 10 rounds will take place in Europe, while the Asian and American series will consist of six events.
