07 Sep 2019 - 08 Sep 2019 07 Sep 2019 08:00 08 Sep 2019 18:00 Europe/London International GT Open International GT Open returns to Silverstone for its eighth year! Silverstone Circuit
In 2019, the International GT Open will run its 14th season, confirming itself as one of the top pro-am racing platforms in Europe.
It was back in 2006 that GT Sport and former sports car driver Jesús Pareja launched the series, following the introduction of GT Sport’s single-seater series, today’s Euroformula Open. Since then, the International GT Open has enjoyed constant expansion and a growing success, thanks to stable rules, controlled costs, excellent TV coverage and premium venues. Today, the International GT Open renews its formula to further assert its position among GT series in Europe.

Drivers score and sum up points individually. Points are awarded to the first nine positions overall according to the scale: 12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
Additional points are awarded to the first five positions by category (GT3 Am, GTCup Pro and Am) according to the scale 10-8-6-4-3.
Time handicaps are applied to the three first classified in each category in the previous races and consist of 15, 10 and 5 seconds, which can be accumulated up to a maximum of 30 seconds. Handicaps are served during the mandatory driver change. These handicaps will be discounted in results lower than a third.
The International GT Open shares its event meetings with sister F.3-based single-seater series, the Euroformula Open, and other top racing series, the Radical Challenge Championship, the new Alpine Cup and the Lotus Cup Europe.
British fans will get their only opportunity of the year to watch international Formula 3 racing and home hero Billy Monger in action on home soil this weekend thanks to Euroformula Open. Not only is the championship bringing an exciting line-up of teams and drivers, several of who are Formula 1 juniors, it is also debuting its improved engine performance regulations for the Silverstone crowd.
Monger, who won the Pau Grand Prix as part of the championship earlier this year, is one of the most popular drivers in Britain but his international exploits means his only weekend of racing at home will be in Euroformula.
Other names to look out for are British F3 champion Enaam Ahmed, multi-disciplined talent Lukas Dunner, Red Bull junior Dennis Hauger and Manuel Maldonado – cousin of 2012 Spanish Grand Prix winner Pastor.
