Lorenzo Ready For Rossi Battle of Silverstone

YAMAHA’S joint MotoGP World Championship leader Jorge Lorenzo is level with team-mate Valentino Rossi on points and believes next Sunday’s OCTO British Grand Prix could be crucial in 2015 title fight.

The pair are 52 points ahead of Honda’s reigning champion Marc Marquez and Lorenzo arrives at Silverstone having won last week in Brno for his fifth victory of the season.

And 2010 and 2012 World Champion Lorenzo will be favourite to land the Silverstone win after climbing the top step of the podium there in 2010, 2012 and 2013.

“Silverstone is without doubt one of my favourite tracks,” said the Spaniard. “It is a beautiful circuit with very fast curves and it is crucial to have a good set-up and well balanced chassis. I have won several times at Silverstone and always felt at ease.”

He added: “I really hope that I can fight for the win this year as it will be very important for the Championship. The British fans are great and have a great tradition in the sport and I always look forward to my time in Britain.”

The four-day MotoGP festival at gets under way with Thursday’s Day of Champions in aid of Riders for Health and the weekend also features live entertainment on the main infield stage each evening and the Classic Village and motorcycle exhibition at the Silverstone Wing.
