Street Zone at Becketts - NEW For 2017!

New for 2017 is the Street Zone at Becketts where we will have the following entertainment:

  • Slacklines
  • Looping Bikes
  • Street performers
  • Buskers

Looping Bikes: Street Zone at Becketts

Participants must pedal to power the bike around a full 360 degree loop. The winner of the head to head contest is the competitor who cycles the most loops in one minute!

Riding the Looping Bikes is real adrenaline rush, as you need to be able to overcome your fears to keep pedalling and turn your bike through a full 360 degrees. This is not a test of strength: Each of the Looping Bike has a special gearing system that allows you to cycle through the upside down position with same power you would need to cycle along a flat road. This activity is more of a mental challenge.

As the participants drop down from the 12 o’clock position (ie. upside down) the Looping Bike accelerates back down. Then it’s time for the participant to gather the courage to pedal hard to go around again. And again. And again… as many times as possible in the time limit.

You need to check this out in the Streets Zone at Becketts.

Slacklines: Street Zone at Becketts

If you’ve ever wanted to walk a tightrope high above the circus floor but got nervous just thinking about it, slack lining may be for you. Slack lining is an increasingly popular sport sweeping across Europe and involves walking across a stretchable strap that is only a couple inches off the ground.

Slacklining is a balance sport that uses nylon webbing tensioned between two anchor points. Slacklining is distinct from tightrope walking in that the line is not held rigidly taut (although it is still under some tension); it is instead dynamic, stretching and bouncing like a long and narrow trampoline.
