FERRARI DOUBLE
The famous Senna name was back on the top step of the Silverstone podium when the great Ayrton Senna’s nephew, Bruno, won both rounds of the Ferrari Challenge staged at the home of the British Grand Prix. The two races were the highlights of a special Ferrari Racing Days event staged to celebrate the famous Italian marque’s 60th anniversary.
The 23-year-old Brazilian, who was making a one-off guest appearance in the evocative series, showed his pedigree and class when scoring two impressive lights-to-flag victories in his Ferrari F430 Challenge car.
Senna will be back at Silverstone in July when he returns to his regular racing role competing in the GP2 championship that stars on the Formula 1 bill. “It’s been very beneficial racing at Silverstone – I got a lot of laps in so when I return for GP2 I won’t have to think too much about the circuit,” he said. “The F430 is very different to the single-seater cars I’m used to driving but I didn’t find it hard to adapt so I’m pleased. It was a pretty near perfect weekend.
