Overview

The Circuit of Wales steps up a gear at this year’s British MotoGP™ (September 01 – 04) as the spectacular race weekend is promoted solely by Britain’s newest leisure, business and motor sport venue!

Ahead of the British MotoGP™ taking place at the purpose-built £375 million South Wales valley venue for the first time in 2018, The Circuit of Wales will promote and run the event at Silverstone. This not only ensures race fans will continue to enjoy a magnificent motorsport weekend, it will also give them a taste of what to expect in terms of slick organisation and great all-family entertainment when MotoGP™ comes to its new home in Wales.

But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves as 2016 is a very big year in British motorcycle racing as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Barry Sheene becoming World Champion for the first time. What better time for today’s British superstars Cal Crutchlow, Bradley Smith and Scott Redding to race for glory in front of their home fans, as they battle at 200mph with the likes of Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa.

Download the official British MotoGP app for Android and iPhone.

Enjoy so much more this year

While the MotoGP™, Moto2 and Moto3 action will be as thrilling as always, visitors to Silverstone will enjoy so much more this year – with great entertainment for all the family, including displays, exhibitions and a live music stage. Every aspect of The Circuit of Wales British MotoGP™ promotion is aimed at giving fans a fantastic weekend – whether they choose to take advantage of the great camping facilities and make a long weekend of it, or visit Silverstone on race day. It promises to be a fan-friendly British MotoGP™ like never before, with a warm Welsh welcome guaranteed!

  • What is Day of Champions?
Day of Champions is organised by 2 Wheels for Life and raises money for their work in Africa. There is no other day like it in any sport. People who buy paddock pass tickets can get into the exclusive paddock and pit-lane and see the teams and riders preparing for the race weekend. There is action all day in the Entertainment Zone. This includes live music, interviews, quizzes, and stunt shows. The climax of the day is the 2 Wheels for Life auction. The stars of MotoGP take part in the live auction, donating signed leathers, boots, helmets and one-off prints for lucky members of the crowd to bid for and take home. There is also the chance to bid on exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. But above everything Day of Champions is about supporting 2 Wheels for Life work in Africa. It is a chance to prove that motorcycles really do save lives.

  • What time do the gates open for Day of Champions?
Gates open at 9:00am. There is one longer paddock session again this year from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The auction starts at 3:00pm.
  • Are there restrictions on paddock tickets again this year?
Instead of having two short sessions in the paddock, like last year, there will be one longer session from 11.00am – 3.00pm. This means that paddock pass holders can have longer to wander around the exclusive paddock and pit-lane. However, for safety reasons, there will be a limit on the number of people allowed in the paddock therefore ticket restrictions remain. These tickets are sure to sell out very quickly so make sure you don’t miss out.
  • Will I get to see all my favourite riders at Day of Champions?
Hundreds of people see and even speak to some of the riders but we can’t guarantee that you will see or get to speak to any rider. The privilege of the day lies in being able to see behind the scenes, enjoy the action in the Entertainment Zone and, if you booked enough in advance, to see the paddock and pit-lane. The auction which finishes off the day is the real chance to see the riders in person. All the MotoGP riders will try to make an appearance at the auction on the main stage and will give something they own up for auction to help our cause. The auction starts at 3:00pm.
  • Where will the money raised from Day of Champions go?
Every pound raised will go to the official MotoGP™ charity, 2 Wheels for Life. This will help enable African health workers to carry on riding motorcycles over tough rural terrain, reaching people in need of vital health care.
  • FOOD & DRINK

We have a wide range of vendors around the circuit for all tastes. We have traditional hot snacks such as burgers, fish & chips, jacket potatoes and pies to Panini’s, baguettes and vegetarian food – but we’re sure you’ll find numerous other options that are very tempting indeed. There are also a number of licensed bars serving beer and other refreshments. Please kindly note that no glass bottles are allowed to be brought into the circuit at any time. You will be asked to leave any glass bottles at the gates if you do bring them. For more information on our food and drink offering, please visit our food and drink pages.
