FAQs

Licences & Regulations

  • Do I need to wear a race suit?
    All drivers must wear helmets and safety clothing, which comply with governing body technical/safety regulations.
  • I have lost my Race Licence can I Test?
    Please call the MSA and ask them to fax a confirmation to the circuit that a valid licence is held. Please bring I.D. to sign on. Silverstone Circuits Limited has the right to refuse drivers who do not produce their licence.
  • I am 15 years old can I Test?
    All drivers participating in testing must be at least 16 years of age. (Where a championship allows under 16's to compete, call SCL for more details.) Any drivers under 18 years must have their indemnity form signed by a guardian or team manager.
  • Do I need to have a Race Licence?
    All drivers/riders must hold a current MSA/FIA or ACU competition race licence, which must be produced at registration on the day of testing. All drivers/riders must also sign an indemnity form before driving on the circuit. Silverstone Circuits Limited has the right to refuse drivers who do not produce their licence.
  • Can my instructor/friend join me as a passenger?
    Passengers cannot be carried in vehicles on circuit during testing.
  • Where do I sign on?
    All drivers must sign on at Race Administration between 08:00 & 11:00 (subject to timetable changes – please check your booking confirmation before arriving at the circuit). Afternoon or late arrivals must sign on at the Circuit Office.

Noise Limits

  • What are the noise restrictions?

    Please note there is a noise limit of 105db for all general testing on the National Circuit.

    The Grand Prix Circuit - will be in compliance with MSA championship regulations relevant to the vehicle being tested.

Venue Information, Access and Departure

  • What power is in the support paddock and garages?
    This information can be supplied on request.
  • When do I need to leave the venue?
    Please clear the Garages and Paddock by 19:00hrs.
  • What time can I enter the venue?
    Access to the Venue and Paddock will be allowed from 07:30hrs on the testing date. If you arrive prior to this time, please park in the car park indicated on the left hand side on the entrance to the circuit.
  • Can I arrive the day/ night before?
    Access to the Venue and Paddock will be allowed from 07:30hrs on the testing date. If you arrive prior to this time, please park in the car park indicated on the left hand side on the entrance to the circuit.
  • Are there showers?
    There are showers in the Super loos in the paddock.
  • Do you sell fuel and if so which type?
    Fuel Station opening times are: 08:30 - 17:00. Race Days 8.00 – 17-00. The Fuel Station supplies Gulf Super unleaded (97octane), Gulf Super 102 (102 octane). Gulf diesel
  • Where can I refuel?
    In the garages and paddock but not in the pit lane.
  • Can I bring my children to the Test?
    Unless participating, no persons under the age of 16 are allowed in the pit lane or on the pit wall.
  • Where can I eat?

    Paddock Diner opening hours are 08:00 – 16:00

    08:00 – 12:00 Breakfast
    12:00 – 14:30 Hot Lunch

Garage Allocation

  • Can I book a garage?
    Available on request at a cost of £60 Inc VAT.
  • Can I leave my car in the garage overnight?
    Garages and Paddock need to be clear by 19:00hrs. The garages are then cleaned in advance of the following day’s events.

Pit Lane

  • How do I enter the pit lane?
    Vehicle access to pit lane via the gate between the garage block, beneath pedestrian bridge.

Payment Terms, Cancellation and Refunds

  • Do you charge for Additional drivers?
    Yes - £45 per additional driver. Licence requirement for additional drivers : All drivers/riders must hold a current MSA/FIA or ACU competition race licence, which must be produced at registration on the day of testing. All drivers/riders must also sign an indemnity form before driving on the circuit. Silverstone Circuits Limited has the right to refuse drivers who do not produce their licence.
  • What are your payment terms?

    Payment is taken by credit card at the time of booking.

    In the event of a cancellation, a refund will only be given if more than 7 days’ written notice is received (e.g., if your test day is the 20th, notification must be received no later than 17.30hrs on the 12th).

    In the event of a cancellation between 7 and 3 days before the test, the booking may be transferred at SCL’s discretion, and only on the first cancellation of a booking. Transfers must be booked and taken within 3 months of the original test date.

  • Can I have a refund if my car breaks down the day before the event?
    Unfortunately, no refund or transfer will be issued.
