Camping at Silverstone in the Cartmel area

A guide to camping at Silverstone

Camping at Silverstone is part of what makes the British Grand Prix the huge success that it is. Having set new Formula 1 attendance records in 2023, fans flocked to the Silverstone circuit in their droves, many of whom camped nearby.

Whilst high-speed motorsport remains the cornerstone of the event, there's something uniquely special about embracing the festival atmosphere and making a temporary home at one of the official camping areas, a stone’s throw from the Silverstone circuit. Check out our beginner's guide to camping at Silverstone below to make sure you get the most out of the experience.

Plenty of Silverstone camping options to choose fromSilverstone camping offers a choice of three official campsites to its visitors year after year. These options cater for everyone, whether you prefer the classic charm of setting up your tent, the convenience of a motorhome, the comfort of a caravan, or the luxury of glamping, there's something for everyone.

The exclusive Ridings glamping experienceThose looking for a premium camping experience should consider the Ridings glamping site. The Ridings is owned by Silverstone, ensuring the highest possible standards are enforced. Having been introduced for the 2022 British Grand Prix, the Ridings offers furnished tents, pamper tent and shuttle services amongst other amenities providing a luxurious camping experience like no other. In 2024 two new luxury Bedouin tent types will be introduced.

The Golf Club  The Golf Club campsite is catered for those who want to be at the heart of the action, with a large tent reserved for entertainment in the evenings and a buzzing atmosphere. It also offers a range of pitches, accommodating anything from family tents to live-in RV vehicles.

Cartmel FieldsCartmel Fields is a quieter campsite than the Golf Club, but still boasts live evening entertainment and a bar. Choices range from three, four or five-night stays. Located just 10 minutes walking distance from Silverstone’s main gate, with a convenient footbridge to take you over Dadford Road and into the circuit.

World-Class camping facilitiesAll three of the official Silverstone campsites offer outstanding facilities and services. Those include an on-site shop, restaurants and bars, free Wi-Fi in and around the Clubhouse and live sports often shown on various TVs. Then there are the campsite staples like drinking water stations, charging points, electrical hook-ups, pot wash facilities and a range of pitch sizes.

Hit the track without the traffic Race-day traffic is one of the unavoidable inevitabilities of attending a Grand Prix, but what if it didn’t have to be? By basing yourself at one of the official Silverstone campsites, you can circumvent hours of unnecessary queueing. You won’t be in a rush to leave straight after the chequered flag so you can soak up all that unparalleled race day atmosphere, then head back to your pitch at a leisurely pace.

To ensure you secure a spot at one of the official campsites, it's important to mark the Camping Release Date (14 September 2023 – or 12 September 2023 for those with Silverstone Racing Club membership) on your calendar. Early access Grand Prix tickets will be made available to those who have purchased official Silverstone campsite tickets on 20 September 2023.
