FORMULA 1 PIRELLI BRITISH GRAND PRIX 2021 AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

This year Silverstone will host the Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix 2021 from 15 to 18 July. The event has been included in the latest phase of the UK Government’s Event Research Programme (ERP) and will have a full capacity crowd. The Silverstone team is working closely with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and Public Health Northamptonshire to deliver the event safely.

The safety and protection of our local community is a key priority, and we are working with Formula 1, the sport’s governing body, the FIA, Police, Public Health, Highways England, and local Councils, to put in place robust procedures to ensure the event can take place in the safest possible environment.

All ticket holders (age 11 and over) attending the event will either be required to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination plus 14 days or proof of a NHS negative Lateral Flow Test, taken within 48 hours prior to the day of attending. Silverstone will be implementing checks for all ticket holders on arrival at the venue.

We are implementing a range of measures to protect our local communities:

  • Regular ticket holder communications which detail the COVID-19 mitigation requirements and give clear guidance on attendance
  • Proactive communications to ticket holders to adhere to Step 3 Government regulations and guidance when exiting/in the surrounding area to the venue
  • Local councils are working with surrounding area campsite operators and businesses to ensure compliance with Government regulations and Step 3 guidance
  • Parking restrictions and enforcement in the vicinity (Dadford Road, Silverstone and Whittlebury villages) to prevent unauthorised parking, with coning as per previous F1 Grands Prix
  • Upweighted police presence in the area
  • A restricted airspace will be in place in and around the circuit
  • Ticket holders encouraged to remain within the venue for evening entertainment and return directly to accommodation
  • ‘Red Zone’ areas for Formula 1 personnel and support series with enhanced COVID-19 protocols required to access these areas and regular checks during the event.
  • Access via local footpaths and bridleways will be restricted during the event and viewing will not be possible from these paths as screening will be in place
  • The Silverstone Interactive Museum will be open, but only for pre-booked British Grand Prix ticket holders. All the necessary health and safety measures will be in place and visitors will be advised of access restrictions. All elements of the event are being discussed and implemented in line with UK government requirements and in close liaison with Public Health advisors who have been involved during the planning and will be supporting in the delivery phase.
