Stuart Pringle, Silverstone Managing Director
"As the home of British motorsport
we have a responsibility to lead the way with smarter and cleaner methods of working and sustainability will be at the heart of all we do at Silverstone."
On the eve of the Formula 1 Lenovo British Grand Prix 2022, we became the first motor racing venue to join the UNFCCC Sports for Climate Action Framework. Other notable signatories of the framework include the FIA, Formula 1, Formula E, FIFA and UEFA.
Since 2021, we have been a member of BASIS, the British Association for Sustainable Sport, and in 2022 we continued our active engagement with other members of the UK’s hub for sustainability in sport to harness our collective power and build a more sustainable future for our industry.
In June 2022, the FIA recognised our commitment to sustainability by awarding Silverstone Circuit the FIA two-star environmental accreditation. We are now working towards achieving the three-star environmental accreditation in the framework.
In May 2023 Silverstone has been awarded the Greengage ECOsmart Silver Award. This is in recognition of our advanced steps taken as a venue to achieve a wide range of eco-focused actions.
