ABOUT THE GRID

The Pre-’63 GT grid brings out a splendid array of cars racing for the Royal Automobile Club’ Historic Tourist Trophy.  The “TT” is the oldest trophy in the world and the races at the Festival reprise the classic era of the early ‘60s when the likes of Stirling Moss won the trophy twice in Rob Walker’s Ferrari SWB. It was an age when you could race the road-going car that you bought in the showroom and this is a unique opportunity for seeing early spec cars that are not often seen on the circuit.

There are four classes based on the original classes of the Tourist Trophy in the early 1960s:  Class A is for engine capacity up to 1300cc; Class B 1301cc to 2000cc; Class C 2001cc to 3000cc and Class D is for cars over 3000cc. 

Cars you can expect to see include: Austin Healey, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar E-type, Lotus Elite, MG, and Porsche.
