Silverstone International Conference & Exhibition Centre boosts team with key recruit

Michelle Pearn is the latest team member to join Silverstone International Conference & Exhibition Centre as Corporate Sales Executive following a further boost in event enquiries after the opening of the trackside Hilton Garden Inn earlier this year.

Michelle joins the team from Lane End Conference Centre where she was responsible for delivering over 750 events per year. Here we get to find out a little bit more about Michelle.

Tell us what attracted you to Silverstone International Conference & Exhibition Centre?

I have often bumped into the team around industry events and have always wanted to be part of a big venue like Silverstone. When the opportunity arose to join this team, I jumped at the chance. And no regrets, everyone is so friendly, welcoming and happy to collaborate. It’s all about team work here.

What have your first few weeks involved?

We’re so busy with events at the moment, that I’ve hit the ground running. I spent a few weeks immersing myself with the events delivery team and really getting under the skin of how we bring events to life. And, when I haven’t been handling enquiries, I’ve spent time networking at events like the CHS Birmingham and the Midlands Showcase through Venues of Excellence. Last month, we also hosted a number of key event planners at the venue to officially launch the new Hilton Garden Inn. That was a super exciting and successful event and it was great to show off everything that Silverstone has to offer.

What MICE trends are you seeing at the moment?

There is a huge emphasis on sustainability right now and it continues to gain momentum. Companies are more mindful than ever of green-washing and want to see positive plans and actions being taken by venues. We’ve recently been part of Micebook Ventures conference which brings the events sector together to collaborate on sustainability initiatives and it’s great to see our journey really starting to take off. Team building requests also continue to be high. After Covid, we saw a huge increase in team building enquiries as companies sought to bring teams back together. That demand hasn’t stopped probably as more businesses allow flexible working behaviours and still need to bring the team together more regularly. We’re really fortunate to have loads of space for every team building activity imaginable and we can also hire the track to companies for corporate drive team building too.

What’s your key strength for event planners booking their event with you?

I like to ensure quick response times and adopt a consultative approach. It’s key that I understand what the client is looking to achieve and how they imagine their event running. I ultimately want to plan an event which goes above and beyond the clients’ expectations.

What makes Silverstone different to other exhibition venues?

Silverstone is a one-of-a-kind venue, steeped in history and surrounded by the famous British Grand Prix Track. The exhibition halls benefit from plenty of natural daylight and breath-taking views overlooking the track. It’s where you can create memorable and unforgettable events.

When you aren’t organising fantastic events, what do you do in your spare time?

I love country walks, trying out new restaurants and relaxing in hotels across the UK.
