24 Mar 2019 24 Mar 2019 09:00:00 24 Mar 2019 18:00:00 Europe/London 2019 Toyo Tires Motosport UK British Rallycross Championship Silverstone will host this years round of the 2019 Toyo Tires Motosport UK British Rallycross Championship on Saturday March 24. Silverstone Circuit

28Days 10Hours

Silverstone will host round one of the 2019 Toyo Tires Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship. Approximately 50 races in a full day of mixed- surface car – to- car combat on Silverstone’s spectacular World Rallycross track. Four – wheel drive rallycross Supercars will do battle for the prestigious British Rallycross Championship Title.

In 2018 Tom Constantine just beat his younger brother Luke to the Junior title. Their cousin James was fourth in the series. Paul Easterbrook raced his Toyota MR2 in the late 1980’s/ early 90’s. When he ‘retired’ from racing he tucked the car away in his garage. Two years ago the urge to race returned, so he got the old Toyota out, dusted it off a bit, and joined the Retro field.

Supercar racer Steve Mundy had to reshell his car after the old one fell off a forklift truck – It’s a long story…

Mark Higgins, the 2018 British Champion, was the 20th different driver to win the Championship!

British RX Championship Info

Introduced in 1976, the MSA British Rallycross Championship is the pinnacle of rallycross in the UK and is contested by drivers of 600bhp, four-wheel drive rallycross Supercars. “British RX” events feature a full supporting programme of classes for two-wheel drive cars.

Taking place at Britain’s best mixed-surface rallycross circuits, events are usually run over a single day with around 30 short, sharp, action-packed qualifying races leading to semi-finals and finals.

There are six other championships that form the full British RX package. The Motorsport UK Supernational Championship, for two- wheel drive cars with unlimited modifications, is second only to the Supercars for action. The rallycross stars of the future begin their career in the Motorsport UK Junior Rallycross Championship which is for 14-17 year old drivers racing identical 1300cc Suzuki Swifts. Retro Rallycross celebrates the cars of the past and is increasingly popular. Add closely contested one- make series for BMW Minis, Suzuki Swifts and RX150 buggies and it’s a full day.

Julian Godfrey is the championship’s most successful driver having won the title five times. As a hugely successful engine builder and car preparer he also played a key role in two of Dermot Carnegie’s British titles.

2017 Junior Champion and now Swift racer Tom Llewellin is the younger son of 1989 and 1990 British Rally David. Tom’s older brother Ben is a Commonwealth Games silver medal winning shooter.
