Silverstone General Competition Terms & Conditions

Intro

These Ts&Cs set out the basis on which we run our competitions and prize draws. For each competition or prize draw there’ll be a set or sets of specific terms and conditions that sit alongside these Ts&Cs. If there’s any conflict between the two, the specific terms and conditions are the ones that apply.

Who we are

“We” are Silverstone Circuits Limited and we are the promoter for the competitions and prize draws that we run. We’re based at the Silverstone Circuit, Towcester, NN12 8TN and registered in England and Wales with company number 882843.

If you ever need to contact us, please visit our Contact Us page

When do these Ts&Cs apply

These TsCs apply to all competitions and prize draws promoted by us via any media or platform. In most instances we run our competitions and prize draws online but the specific terms and conditions for each competition or prize draw will set out the media and platform(s) through which it is run.

By taking part in any of our competitions or prize draws you accept and agree to these Ts&Cs (and all specific terms and conditions for that competition or prize draw) therefore its important you review them and are happy with them before you enter.

The Ts&Cs that apply to each competition and prize draw are the ones that were live on the opening date for entries for that competition or prize draw. We recommend printing a version of these Ts&Cs at the time you enter should you need to reference them in the future. We won’t amend the Ts&Cs for specific competition or prize draw after the opening date.

Who can enter

You must be a resident of the United Kingdom and aged 18 or over (at the time of entry) to enter our competitions and prize draws.

Our employees, their immediate family and those of our group companies can’t enter our competitions and prize draws, nor can anyone involved in the operation or promotion (such as the provider of the prize). Any entries from anyone in these categories will not count.

If we need to check the eligibility of anyone entering our competition or prize draw you agree to provide us with whatever reasonable information we ask for and let us carry out any checks we consider necessary. If we aren’t able to reasonably verify you are eligible to enter your entry will not count and you won’t be able to win the prize.

How do you enter

The specific terms and conditions for each competition and prize draw will let you know the opening date and closing date for entries.

Any entries received before the opening date or after the closing date will not count but, if there’s a charge to enter the competition or prize draw, you may still be charged.

For competitions, to enter you must answer our question or complete our task and submit the information as set out in the specific terms and conditions.

For prize draws, you must submit the information as set out in the specific terms and conditions.

You will need to give us your full name, telephone number, address and/or your email address so that we can contact you if you win. Once you’ve entered the competition or prize draw, your contract information can’t be changed.

If there’s a charge to enter the competition or prize draw, this will clearly be set out in its specific terms and conditions and it will be inclusive of any taxes. If there is a charge, please make sure you’ve got the bill payer’s permission before entering.

Entry Methods

Most of our competitions or prize draws will be run online. For your entry to count you need to follow the instructions in the specific terms and conditions to submit your entry through our website. You might incur charges from your internet service provider when accessing the internet.

Its rare that we run a competition or prize draw via the post but, if we do, you need to send your full name and contact details to our postal address together with any information we let you know we need in the specific terms and conditions. Entries must be on a postcard or on/in an envelope and we’ll only accept one entry per postcard/envelope. We must receive your entry at our postal address on or before the closing date for the competition or prize draw for the entry to count. Please make sure you’ve paid sufficient postage or your entry won’t count. Delivery must be by a recognised postal service, entries delivered personally or by hand won’t count.

Entry Restrictions

If you send your entry through an agent, third-party or on behalf of someone else, it won’t count.

You can only enter the competition or prize draw once unless the specific terms and conditions say otherwise. We will only count the first entry received, all other entries won’t count.

Entries that are: (i) incomplete; (ii) (in our reasonable opinion) offensive or breach law or the rights of another individual; (iii) not received by us at all or between the opening date and closing date (for whatever reason); or (iv) not possible for us to reasonably obtain the information we need to confirm all of the requirements of the competition or prize draw are met will not count.

What you can win

The prize is as set out in the specific terms and conditions for each competition or prize draw. Unless they say otherwise each entrant can win a maximum of one prize per competition or prize draw.

Prize restrictions

Each prize is subject to availability, the terms and conditions of any prize provider (their agents, the venue and/or the manufacturer, if applicable), any laws or regulations that apply to the prize, us being able to contact you to confirm you’re a winner (more details on how we approach this are below) and you following any instructions or requirements in relation to receiving or taking up the prize.

Please be aware that to accept or make use of a prize you may be required to be in a specific place at a specific time, if this is the case it will be set out in the specific terms and conditions for the competition or prize draw.

If there are instructions or requirements in relation to receiving or taking up the prize (such as timeframes for responses, information required from us, signing any waiver, release or consent), these will be set out in the specific terms and conditions and you (and anyone receiving or taking up the prize with you) must comply with them or you will forfeit your prize. We won’t be liable to you or anyone else if you or they don’t comply with these instructions or requirements.

The prize excludes all other costs and arrangements not set out in the specific terms and conditions. Any charges or expenses not covered by the prize shall be yours to fund. We won’t be liable for any such charges or expenses, nor will we make any reimbursement or refund in relation to them.

There is no cash equivalent or alternative prize to the one set out in the specific terms and conditions and we will not consider any request for one. Prizes can’t be transferred or exchanged.

If you don’t take up all or part of a prize we can ask you to confirm this in writing and retain or dispose of the prize (or part of it, as the case may be).

How do we choose a winner

The specific terms and conditions will say whether a winner is randomly selected or not.

Where they are, the draw will take place within a week of the competition or prize draw’s closing date, unless the specific terms and conditions say otherwise, and the winner will be the first entry drawn from all valid and complete entries.

Where the winner is not randomly selected the specific terms and conditions will set out how the winner will be selected.

How will we contact winners

As soon as we can after we’ve selected you as a winner we’ll make reasonable efforts to contact you using your contact information. Unless the receipt or taking up of the prize is restricted by time, we’ll try and contact you for four weeks from our first attempt.

If the receipt or taking up of the prize is restricted by time, the specific terms and conditions will let you know how long we’ll try to contact winners for and any commitment we give to you about how often we’ll try to contact you during that period.

Telling the world you’ve won

By entering into our competition or prize draw you agree to take part in any publicity we reasonably request, in particular if you win! That may be our publicity or that of one of our partners and, by entering into the competition or prize draw, you agree to us and them using your name, image, anything you send or say to us as part of your participation in the competition (including regarding the prize and winning the competition or prize draw, if you do so) in future promotional and marketing material. We can use that anywhere in the world and without the need to pay you to do so.

You also agree to us listing your name and county of residence on any winners page on our website and publishing or announcing that information anywhere and in any manner we consider we need to or want to.

If you want to know who won a competition or prize draw you can submit an enquiry form here and once thirty days have passed following the closing date of the competition or prize draw we’ll let you know the name and county of the winner.

Why you might not get your prize

If you fail to comply with these Ts&Cs, the specific terms and conditions for the competition or prize draw, are disqualified from the competition or prize draw or we aren’t able to contact you, you will forfeit your prize.

If you forfeit your prize we shall be free, at our option, to select a new winner, retain the prize or dispose of the prize. We won’t be liable to you, in any way, if you forfeit your prize.

How you may be disqualified from the competition or prize draw

We are committed to ensuring our competitions and prize draws are fair and decent and we work with our partners to prevent abuse of our systems to manipulate our competition or prize draw and enhance your chances of winning.

We therefore have the right to disqualify you and not count any entries you make if we have reasonable grounds to suspect you’ve done something to manipulate our competition or prize draw or your chances of winning it or, in any other way, breached these Ts&Cs or the specific terms and conditions for that competition or prize draw. Manipulation of your chances of winning our competition or prize draw includes submitting multiple entries with different details.

If we disqualify you from one competition or prize draw, your entries for that competition or prize draw will not count, you will not be able to win that prize and we will have the right not to count any entries you make to any subsequent competition or prize draw we run.

What if there’s an issue

If there’s any issue, such as a fault or mistake or dispute as to any element of a competition or prize draw, our decision is final.

We can’t promise our competition or prize draw will be free from errors or omissions, nor that their availability won’t be interrupted or impeded. There may be times we have to suspend the competition or prize draw due to a technical or operational problem or an event outside of our control.

We don’t accept any liability for any such issue, error, omission, interruption, impediment or suspension or for any loss or damage you or anyone may suffer in connection with our competition or prize draw except for any death or personal injury caused by our negligence (or that of our supplier), any fraud and any liability which cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected or restricted by anything in these Ts&Cs or any specific terms and conditions. If you need any information on your statutory rights, you should contact your local Trading Standards Office or Citizen’s Advice Bureau.

See the “Legal Bits” section below for how to take an issue further.

Events outside of our control

If an event outside of our control affects our competition or prize draw (such as an act of God, natural disaster, epidemic, pandemic or government restriction) we have the right to take whatever action we consider necessary in respect of the competition or prize draw. This may include suspending or cancelling the competition or prize draw. We shall not be liable to you or anyone for any action we take if this is the case.

The list of examples of events outside of our control in this section is for illustration purposes only; this section applies to all events outside of our control that affect our competition or prize draw.

What if you cause us loss

If you cause us loss or damage from your participation in our competition or prize draw (such as if we receive a claim from someone in relation to your participation, breach of laws or regulations or breach of these Ts&Cs or the specific terms and conditions) you agree to reimburse us for that if we ask you to do so.

Capturing and using your data

When you enter our competition or prize draw we collect personal data from you and you agree to us using your personal data as set out in these Ts&Cs, the specific Ts&Cs and our privacy policy.

Principally we (and anyone connected with the competition or prize draw) will use your personal data to run the competition or prize draw, including to contact you as contemplated in these Ts&Cs and the specific terms and conditions.

As part of that we might send your personal data (and that of anyone who will benefit from the prize if you’re a winner that you notify us of) outside of the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. By entering the competition or prize draw you consent to this.

Generally we will only send you marketing emails if you tell us you want to receive them. If you interact with us by email as part of a competition or prize draw we will take that as your consent to receive marketing communications from us via email for similar products and services. To avoid this please follow the details at the bottom of any email we send you to unsubscribe.

Further details on how we use your personal data are set out in our privacy policy which can be found here.

Legal Bits

By entering into our competition or prize draw you are agreeing to these Ts&Cs and the specific terms and conditions and you are giving up any rights you have under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013) to withdraw or cancel your “purchase”. This is because the performance of delivery of the competition or prize draw to you starts immediately from receipt of your entry.

Your entry into any competition or prize draw does not create any commercial relationship between us and you and you are not, in any capacity, our agent.

These Ts&Cs and any specific terms and conditions are available in the English language only and are exclusively governed by the laws of England.

If you have an issue arising from your participation in a competition or prize draw that we do not satisfactorily resolve with you or if we have any issue with you, all disputes relating to the competition or prize draw and/or these Ts&Cs or the specific terms and conditions shall ultimately be resolved by the English courts.

When can these Ts&Cs be changed

We can change these Ts&Cs at any point by publishing a new set on our website (www.silverstone.co.uk). As we said above, we won’t amend the Ts&Cs for specific competition or prize draw after the opening date so the Ts&Cs that were live on the opening date are the ones that apply to that competition or prize draw.

This latest version of the Ts&Cs went live on [07/02/2023].
