There’s more activity than ever at this year’s Formula 1® 2018 Rolex British Grand Prix as we’re also celebrating our 70th Anniversary!

Below you can find everything you need to know to plan your day including details of the amazing entertainment on offer and the detailed circuit and entertainment map.


Main stage live music concerts

Showcasing music from across the decades to mark our 70th Anniversary, live acts and bands will be performing on the Thursday,  Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this year’s British Grand Prix, on the main stage in the F1 Fan Zone.

On Thursday 5 July, the opening night of the British Grand Prix weekend, Sara Cox presents ‘Just Can’t Get Enough 80’s’ and will be joined on stage with guests from the era including Katrina from Katrina and the Waves and Go West.

Moving forward a decade and to Friday 6 July, Jo Whiley brings her love of Indie music to the Silverstone crowd as she presents ’90’s Indie Anthems’ alongside Dodgy and Heather Small.

Rounding off the theme, Ministry of Sound, will take us to the noughties on Saturday 7 July, and will be supported by Sonique and Brandon Block.

Sunday evening’s live music entertainment will be provided by Mel C who will perform at the post-race British Grand Prix After Party, playing some of her best loved hits for the Silverstone fans.


F1 driver appearances

Formula 1, the teams and the drivers are working closely with Silverstone to get fans closer to their heroes, and F1 driver appearances will take place throughout the weekend.

Sky F1 will be broadcasting live from the International Pits Straight on Thursday and fans will be able to watch the show, which includes driver interviews, live from the grandstands. On Saturday the F1 Fans Forum will take place on the main stage alongside the F1 Fan Zone and spectators in this area will have the chance to see their favourite drivers interviewed ahead of the race.

On Sunday, firmly established as part of the British Grand Prix tradition, the Grand Prix Party will take place after the last race of the day on the main stage with current F1 drivers appearing on stage to chat to fans.


70th Anniversary Parades

70th Anniversary parades will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will feature a host of cars and drivers that have played a key part in the history of Silverstone and Formula 1 with seven decades of motorsport represented from 1948 through to modern day. Cars confirmed to date include:

  • 1948 ERA
  • 1948 Maserati 4CLT
  • 1955 Lancia D50
  • 1958 Ferrari 246 Dino F1
  • 1969 British Grand Prix Winning Matra MS80-02 driven by Sir Jackie Stewart
  • 1969  Lotus 49B ex Graham Hill
  • 1987 Arrows A10 BMW
  • 2010 British Grand Prix winning Red Bull RB6
  • 2013 F1 W04 V8 and 2016 F1 W07 BGP winning Mercedes

Inner Track

Inner Track pass holders can get close to the cars from the 70th Anniversary parade by visiting the National Paddock which also features a bandstand and live music taking spectators back to yesteryear.

The musical and re-enactment performances celebrating the 1940s throughout the weekend will include:

  • ‘Perfect Vintage’ will be performing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • ‘Puttin’ on the Blitz’ will be there on Saturday and Sunday
  • ‘My Favourite Things’ are also performing on Friday and Sunday
  • Various re-enactor displays will also take place showcasing the difference between the 1940s and today and the impact the war had on day-to-day life

In Inner Track, you can also access the viewing banks inside Copse, Becketts Inside and The Loop and experience a different perspective on the action. In addition, fans will be able to gain behind-the-scenes access to the national and support race paddocks which reside in the historic base of Formula 1 at Silverstone.

F1 Vision

Entertainment Zone

The Entertainment Zone, also located next to the main stage, includes a wide range of activities:

Activities include:

  • Giant wheel – £5pp
  • Bungee Trampoline – £2 pp*
  • Roll around in a giant ball with Land Zorbs – £2 pp*
  • Segway Challenge – £2 pp**
  • Laser Target Shooting – £2 pp**
  • Mobile racing experience with The Racing Bug – £2 pp
  • Climbing Wall – £2 pp
  • Army & Navy Static Aircraft and Vehicle Displays

*Must be aged over 5 ** Over 12’s. Tokens are to be purchased to pay for all the above activities, excluding the Big Wheel where cash or tokens can be exchanged for a ride.


F1 Fanzone

The F1 Fanzone is next to the main stage and offers free entertainment on site over the weekend (there may be a small charge for some of the entertainment).

F1 themed entertainment including:

  • Static F1 stimulators
  • F1 Driver Fitness Challenge
  • Batak Reaction Test Challenge
  • Become a commentator in our TV studio

As well as Army and Navy displays!





Family Zone

The Family Zone is on the outside of National Pits Straight in the Silverstone UTC and has both an indoor and outdoor area catering for the younger fans and will include:

  • Build Zone – Build your dream car from our building blocks collection and race it and so much more.
  • Creative Zone – Have fun with arts and crafts – craft and music will be available all day
  • Active Zone – enjoy fun sporting events for the whole family

Other Family Zone activities include:

  • Face painting and body art
  • Science experiments
  • Go-karting
  • Cycling obstacle course
  • Design a model rocket car and race it!
  • Plus these activities are all absolutely FREE!

Sports Zone

Perfect for sports fans, the Sports Zone is situated at Stowe corner and includes:

  • Sports bar and giant sports screen
  • Badminton
  • Table tennis
  • Boules
  • Draughts
  • Chess
  • Croquet

All activities in this zone are FREE!


Street Zone

Back by popular demand is the Street Zone which can be found on the outside of Becketts and features:

  • Street food vendors
  • Street performers
  • And more!

Plus, there will also be a Formula Art display stand consisting of a range of paintings created by motor sport artist David Johnson.

David will also be live painting at intervals throughout the day with his palette knife to capture Lewis Hamilton in his 2018 Mercedes F1 car.


Our famous post-race track walk

We will once again have the post-race track walk taking place on Sunday 8 July after the Formula 1® race.

More information about the access points will follow closer to the event but it’s not one to be missed!


Don’t miss out on our air displays

In 2018 the Tigers Parachute Display Team will grace the Silverstone skies on the Friday of the event, while on Saturday, the crowd will be wowed by a spectacular display from the Chinook Helicopter.

As is tradition, The Red Arrows will perform another stunning display on race day as part of the official grid ceremony.

Pleasure flights

We will have amazing helicopter rides available from 09:30 – 17:00 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday over the British Grand Prix weekend. Simply go to the heliport to book yours.

Woodlands Campsite

In addition to all of the above, those who are camping at Silverstone’s official campsite, Woodlands, will benefit from so much more including, a silent disco, clay pigeon shooting, a fun fair, film and TV screenings, driving simulators, and more!
