F1 2026 Belgian Grand Prix results: Antonelli overhauls Leclerc to win at Spa

Kimi Antonelli claimed victory at the 2026 Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix after a thrilling race at Spa-Francorchamps, with Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen completing the podium.

The Mercedes driver started from pole position but lost the lead to Verstappen and Leclerc at various points in the race, before fighting back to take control of the race and notching another 2026 victory.

Leclerc finished second for Ferrari, while Verstappen crossed the line third for Red Bull Racing. Lewis Hamilton recovered from a five-second penalty to finish fourth, with Oscar Piastri fifth.

Lando Norris recovered from 13th on the grid to finish seventh, while Arvid Lindblad added two more points to his 2026 tally with ninth.

George Russell's race ended on the opening lap after contact with Hamilton, while Ollie Bearman recovered from 18th to finish 14th.

2026 Belgian Grand Prix results

Antonelli fights back to win 

Starting from pole with Max Verstappen alongside him on the front row, Kimi Antonelli made a strong getaway to retain the lead through the opening corners.

Verstappen refused to let the Mercedes driver escape, though, and made his move into Eau Rouge. Antonelli quickly responded, retaking the lead into Les Combes as Charles Leclerc also found a way past Verstappen to move into second.

The Mercedes driver continued to control the race before making his first pit stop from the lead on Lap 18, rejoining in fifth.
Leclerc, meanwhile, benefited from a Virtual Safety Car to make his stop and emerged at the front. Antonelli steadily closed the gap to the Ferrari during the second stint, and was back on Leclerc's rear wing by Lap 34.

The Mercedes driver then made his move into Les Combes, sweeping past Leclerc to retake the lead. From there, Antonelli controlled the closing stages to cross the line first and claim his sixth 2026 victory at Spa-Francorchamps.

Hamilton recovers to fourth after first-lap drama

Lewis Hamilton started fifth and immediately became involved in a battle with George Russell for fourth. The pair went side by side into Les Combes, with Russell on the outside before contact sent the Mercedes driver spinning into the gravel.

Russell's race was over on the opening lap, while Hamilton continued but was handed a five-second penalty for the incident.

Hamilton then dropped to fifth before launching an attack on Oscar Piastri at the Lap 5 restart. The Ferrari driver briefly moved ahead, but Piastri was able to retake the position into Les Combes. Hamilton eventually completed the move on Lap 9, taking fourth from the McLaren driver.

He then attacked Leclerc into the chicane on Lap 12, but couldn't complete the move before making his pit stop under the Virtual Safety Car on Lap 20, where he also served his penalty.

Rejoining in sixth, Hamilton continued to fight his way forward and passed Piastri for fourth on Lap 40. He held the position through the closing stages to finish fourth, scoring 12 points.

Norris recovers from 13th to finish seventh

Lando Norris qualified an impressive third, but a grid penalty meant he started the Belgian Grand Prix from 13th. 

Starting on the Hard tyres, Norris made steady progress through the opening laps to climb into the top 10. His recovery continued as the race progressed, and by Lap 20 he had moved into fourth.

Norris remained near the front through the first stint before eventually pitting from second on Lap 30. He rejoined in eighth and spent the closing stages chasing down Gabriel Bortoleto.

The McLaren driver eventually made his way past the Audi to finish seventh, recovering six places from his starting position and taking six championship points.

Lindblad adds more points while Bearman recovers

Arvid Lindblad started seventh and managed to avoid the first-lap chaos to retain his position through the opening stages.

The Racing Bulls driver gradually slipped backwards as the race unfolded but recovered to finish ninth, adding two more points to his 2026 championship tally.

Ollie Bearman endured a more difficult afternoon after starting 18th following penalties, having originally qualified 16th.
The Haas driver moved up to 15th after the opening lap before making a pit stop that dropped him back to 18th. Bearman then began to recover positions and eventually crossed the line 14th.
