MotoGP British Grand Prix results: Fernandez makes history at Silverstone

The MotoGP British Grand Prix produced another slice of Silverstone history in 2026, as Raul Fernandez became the 12th different winner in the last 12 MotoGP races at the circuit.

The Trackhouse rider converted second on the grid into a commanding victory, leading from the opening lap after making a superb start past pole-sitter Jorge Martin.

Martin had looked imperious in qualifying and backed that up with a lights-to-flag Sprint victory on Saturday, but had to settle for second in Sunday's Grand Prix.

Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium for Aprilia, while Alex Marquez, Pedro Acosta and Fabio Di Giannantonio rounded out the top six.

Qualifying: Martin leads Aprilia charge

Jorge Martin claimed pole position for the MotoGP British Grand Prix with a 1:56.160 lap, putting the Aprilia rider at the front of a tightly packed qualifying session.

Raul Fernandez was just 0.021 seconds slower to secure second for Trackhouse, while team-mate Ai Ogura completed the front row.

Fabio Di Giannantonio qualified fourth, ahead of Marco Bezzecchi, with Marc Marquez rounding out the second row.

Sprint Race: Martin leads all-Aprilia podium

Martin made the perfect start from pole position to lead the opening lap, while Ogura, Di Giannantonio and Bezzecchi muscled their way past Raul Fernandez in the opening sequence of corners.

Marc Marquez moved past Bezzecchi into fourth at Stowe on Lap 1, but the Aprilia rider soon fought back.

Then, on Lap 2, Di Giannantonio tried to make a move on Ogura, but couldn't make it stick, while Bezzecchi reclaimed fourth from Marc at Maggotts on Lap 5.

Alex Marquez joined the battle not long after, passing his brother on Lap 6 as the fight for the final podium places hotted up.

With four laps remaining, Bezzecchi made his move on Di Giannantonio to take third and complete an all-Aprilia podium.

Marc Marquez's Sprint then unravelled further in the closing stages, when Pedro Acosta moved past the Ducati rider with two laps to go, relegating him to seventh before he eventually slipped to ninth at the chequered flag.

At the front, Martin was untouchable. The Aprilia rider controlled the Sprint from lights to flag to take victory ahead of Ogura and Bezzecchi.

Grand Prix: Fernandez makes Silverstone history

For the second start of the weekend, Fernandez got the better launch from second on the grid and seized the lead into Turn 1, while Martin ran wide and dropped behind Bezzecchi.

Martin and Ogura battled for third through Village and the Loop, but Marc Marquez swept past both of them to move into third.

Martin quickly recovered, retaking third before the end of the opening lap, but the race was already beginning to settle into a fight between the Trackhouse and Aprilia riders.

Further back, Alex Marquez and Pedro Acosta closed in on Marc Marquez, and by Lap 7 both had found a way past the Ducati rider.

Alex Marquez was on a roll, setting the fastest lap of the race as he hunted down the two factory Aprilias running in second and third.

On Lap 9, Martin made his move on team-mate Bezzecchi to take second. Alex Marquez followed later that same lap, passing Bezzecchi at Stowe to promote himself onto the podium.

Ogura's race then came to an abrupt end, when he crashed out from seventh on Lap 10, bringing a disappointing end to his weekend. 

At the front, meanwhile, Trackhouse stablemate Fernandez remained in complete control, crossing the line to secure a maiden MotoGP Silverstone victory and, in the process, made history as the 12th different winner in 12 MotoGP races at the circuit.

Martin followed his Sprint victory with second place in the Grand Prix, while Bezzecchi completed an all-Aprillia podium.
Alex Marquez took fourth ahead of Acosta and Di Giannantonio, while Marc Marquez endured a difficult weekend by his standards, finishing seventh.
