Today the Sustainable Motorsport Index™ (SMI™) launched their third annual edition of the Sustainable Circuits Index™, revealing the global motorsports circuits leading the charge in driving towards a more sustainable future.

We are delighted to announce the impact of our Shift to Zero initiatives moves us up the pack, from 21st to 4th position, earning us the additional accolade of ‘Most Improved Circuit’ in the 2023 standings. It’s a proud moment for the circuit to have our achievements recognised by the index.

Projects such as the installation of over 2,700 solar panel modules that provide over 13% of our site’s annual power requirements, our partnership with local charities to redistribute surplus food year round, our engagement with schools and local communities, and our joint fan engagement initiative with Sky Zero at the 2022 British Grand Prix have all contributed to this excellent result.

At Silverstone, Shift to Zero is our new mindset"

“We are delighted to receive this commendation from the Sustainable Motorsport Index and to be recognised for our ongoing efforts to put sustainability at the heart of all we do at Silverstone. As the home of British motorsport we have a responsibility to lead the way with smarter and cleaner methods of working and act as a platform for change by sharing best practices with the entire motorsport and leisure industry.” says Stephane Bazire, Head of Business Sustainability & Partnerships.

We join Mugello Circuit and Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya, in the top 5 around the world for sustainability, demonstrating that those of us at the front of the pack are consistently pushing ourselves to accelerate progress and lead by example.
