In a timely and fitting partnership, next month’s Silverstone Festival (22–24 August) will welcome The Refuel – a powerful new movement created to celebrate driving, cars and the connections made on the road. It’s a fact that people who are more connected to their friends and family live longer. The road trip to Silverstone Festival, in a car, shoulder-to-shoulder, is a moment of connection and conversation. It isn’t just about the destination and the event, it’s about the journey and Refuelling on the way.
Every car enthusiast knows the unique value of time spent on the open road. The Refuel exists to celebrate and reward this experience, harnessing the power of driving into a force for good, an opportunity for connection, conversation, and fundraising.
Every drive is a Refuel, a chance to catch up, check in, say everything or nothing at all. Sitting side-by-side in a car with those you love creates a unique environment where connection flows naturally. Social isolation remains one of the most overlooked public health risks – linked by the World Health Organisation to anxiety, depression, dementia, cardiovascular disease, and stroke.
The Refuel partners with various programmes that need support – whether aimed at reducing disconnection and loneliness, investing in stroke patient support, heart disease improvements, improved mental health initiatives or restoring the countryside that make our drives so memorable.
“We’ve created The Refuel to celebrate and reward the joy of driving. Journeys are where stories unfold, memories are driven, relationships grow, and generations come together”. said Charlie Turner, Co-Founder of The Refuel. “Cars create unique connections between people, places, and experiences.”
Joining The Refuel is free, and all Silverstone Festival attendees are encouraged to participate by registering their journey to and from the event at www.TheRefuel.com/SilverstoneFestival
At the Festival, visitors can share their passion for motoring in a specially designed Refuel zone – an open space to strike up conversations with fellow car lovers and come and meet the team. Refuel members will also have the chance to win the Refuel Roadtrip Roadster on display.
Festival-goers are sure to create fresh memories on the drive to and from this nostalgic and exciting event, which is steeped in emotional resonance: from the action-packed retro races to spectacular classic car displays and a visit to the thought-provoking, interactive Silverstone Museum – admission to which is included with every Festival ticket.
This year’s Bank Holiday celebration also marks 75 years of Formula 1, featuring a special World Champions Collection with cars driven by all 34 F1 title winners. It’s another reason why this event promises unforgettable moments for every attendee.
“So much about Silverstone Festival is about reliving great memories and making new ones,” said Nick Wigley, Event Director. “That’s why our new partnership with The Refuel is so meaningful. Whether it’s two friends hitting the road in a cherished two-seater or families reuniting for an amazing Bank Holiday weekend, this event inspires joy, reflection, and connection for all generations.”
While the world-class retro racing and extensive car club displays remain the core of the Festival, this end-of-summer celebration also provides a wide variety of family-friendly entertainment. Highlights include classic funfair rides, thrilling stunt shows, and live evening performances from Natasha Bedingfield, Craig David presents TS5, and Ministry of Sound Classical. Even better—children aged 15 and under go free.
