Silverstone Festival 2025: Races you don’t want to miss
14 August 2025Silverstone Festival 2025 is set to deliver thrilling motorsport action across three days, featuring historic racing and a remarkable 36 competitive on-track sessions.
From Friday’s qualifying day to the action-packed weekend of racing on Saturday and Sunday, our guide breaks down the key highlights you won’t want to miss.
The schedule
Friday
- 09:00-09:18 – Historic Formula Junior Qualifying. Kick off the weekend with qualifying for Historic Formula Junior cars. A grid of small single-seaters powered by 1-litre engines, tracing back to the late 1950s. Two Formula Junior races take place later in the weekend, from 09:00 on both Saturday and Sunday.
- 10:54-11:12 – Qualifying for the Derek Bell Trophy for F2/5000 cars raced by the likes of Jochen Rindt, Ronnie Peterson, Jody Scheckter, Graham Hill and Sir Jackie Stewart. The two races for this category get underway at 10:50 on Saturday and 11:00 on Sunday.
- 12:48-13:03 – 500cc F3 Qualifying. Watch cars from the only support category at the first ever Formula 1 race at Silverstone in 1950. The sole F3 race takes place at 12:50 on Sunday.
- 18:43-19:10 – International Trophy for Classic GT Cars Qualifying. Watch qualifying for the pre-1966 classic GT race featuring legendary marques like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Porsche, Ferrari and many more setting the stage for Saturday’s 50-minute race at 17:10.

Saturday
- 09:40-10:30 – Royal Automobile Club Woodcote & Stirling Moss Trophy. Catch pre ’56 sports-racers and pre ’61 sports racing cars compete for the prestigious Stirling Moss Trophy, a must-see for historic racing fans. Qualifying is at 09:32 on Friday.
- 15:25-16:10 – Transatlantic Touring Car Trophy (Pre ’66). You’d be forgiven for thinking Minis and Mustangs don’t belong in the same racing category, but along with Lotus Cortinas and many more, this class produces some of the best racing you’ll see all weekend. Qualifying takes place at 17:30 on Friday.
- 16:30-16:50 – HGPCA Pre ’66 Grand Prix Cars. These cars place the emphasis firmly on the driver, all made when aerodynamics weren’t yet considered. These cars can be anything from enormous 1920s examples through to the pocket rockets of the 1960s. Qualifying gets underway from 18:11 on Friday and the second race at 14:55 on Sunday.
- 18:20-19:00 – Masters Group C. This is one you won’t want to miss. Reviving the heyday of 1980s prototypes with Group C and IMSA GTP, this mini endurance race is one of the highlights of the weekend. Qualifying is at 16:02 on Friday.

Sunday
- 09:40-10:30 – Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy. Witness iconic early ’60s sports cars like Jaguar E-Types and Austin Healeys compete for one of the festival’s highlight trophies. Qualifying is at 10:13 on Friday.
- 11:40-12:30 – Adrian Flux Trophy For MRL Historic Touring Cars. See classic touring cars from the ’60s to ’90s battle it out in one of the most popular historic racing categories at the festival. Qualifying for this race gets underway at 11:26 on Friday.
- 13:20-13:40 – Masters Racing Legends (F1 ’66-’85). Relive the golden era of Formula 1 with legendary 3-litre cars from iconic teams like Lotus, McLaren, Williams and more. Qualifying is at 14:03 on Friday and this category’s first race is at 13:20 on Saturday.
- 15:35-16:15 – Masters Endurance Legends. Watch iconic endurance racing cars from 1995-2012, including prototypes and GT machines, being pushed to the limit in this adrenaline-fueled race. Qualifying takes place at 15:18 on Friday and the first race at 14:00 on Saturday.
