The British Grand Prix Eddie Jordan tribute: Celebrating a Formula 1 icon
27 June 2025Eddie Jordan was one of Formula 1’s most colourful figures, so it seems fitting that at this year’s British Grand Prix, we celebrate the life and career of a man who left a remarkable legacy on the sport.
Silverstone will honour Jordan and his team with a special tribute, featuring a collection of iconic cars from his career, both in an on-track dynamic display and as static exhibits.
From early Formula 3 challengers to iconic Jordan Grand Prix machines, the tribute brings to life a golden era of racing defined by bold design, unforgettable moments and the team’s irresistible underdog spirit.
Unmissable cars to look out for
Among the standout machines as part of the weekend’s static displays are:
- Reynard 873 (1987) – The car that powered Johnny Herbert to the British F3 title and helped put Eddie Jordan Racing on the map.
- Jordan 191 (1991) – A true motorsport legend. This very chassis was used in Michael Schumacher’s eye-catching F1 debut at Spa, launching the career of one of the sport’s greatest champions.
- EJ10 (2000) – One of the most recognisable Jordan cars thanks to its bright yellow ‘Buzzin’ Hornets’ livery. Recently restored, it’s a fan favourite that Heinz-Harald Frentzen raced to podiums at Interlagos and Indianapolis.

- Jordan EJ13 (2003) – Although it wasn’t this chassis specifically, the EJ13 was driven to victory by Giancarlo Fisichella at the Brazilian Grand Prix in one of only three points-scoring finishes for the team in 2003.
On-track demonstrations
In addition to the static displays, a number of historic cars will return to the tarmac for live demonstrations across the weekend. Expect to see everything from screaming V10 F1 cars to featherweight F3 machines roaring around Silverstone once again.
- Ralt RT3 (1983) – A classic Formula 3 machine, the RT3 being displayed was driven by Martin Brundle in a classic season where he came within one point of the title, beaten only by Ayrton Senna.

- Reynard 89D (1989) – The International F3000 title-winner driven by Jean Alesi that took the title on countback, Alesi having been tied for points with Erik Comas but claimed more wins. This title confirmed Jordan’s loft ambitions and paved the way for the team’s foray into F1 two years later.
- Jordan 194 (1994) – With its striking Sasol livery, the 194 delivered Jordan’s first-ever F1 podium and pole position, driven by Rubens Barrichello and Eddie Irvine in a breakout season for the team.
- Jordan 195 (1995) – Piloted by both Barrichello and Irvine, this car brought home second in Montreal – the team’s best result to date at the time – and helped the team to 6th in the Constructors' Championship.
