With his home race mere days away, Lando has set himself up with the best possible momentum ahead of the 2025 British Grand Prix.
George Russell, winner last time out in Canada, had no answer for the frontrunners at the Red Bull Ring and finished a distant fifth, while Lewis Hamilton finished fourth for Ferrari and Ollie Bearman made solid progress to narrowly miss out on a points finish.

Norris holds firm under pressure
Norris got away cleanly to fend off a charging Charles Leclerc into Turn 1, then came back under attack from team-mate Piastri into Turn 3. A Safety Car was deployed at the end of Lap 1, neutralising the early chaos.
After the restart, Norris and Piastri went wheel-to-wheel repeatedly in the opening stint. As Lando ran wide at Turn 1 on Lap 11, Piastri grabbed the lead into Turn 3, but Norris deftly held back to get DRS on the next straight and reclaimed the place immediately at Turn 4.
A slower pitstop on Lap 21 dropped Norris to fourth on hard tyres, but he cycled back into the lead after Oscar boxed and the Ferraris pitted on Lap 27.
Lando’s final stop on Lap 53 for mediums set up a nervy run to the flag, but he kept his cool, managing the gap to Piastri through traffic to take his third win of the season, carrying valuable momentum into the British Grand Prix.

Canadian GP winner Russell struggles in the heat
Winners last time out, George Russell and Mercedes had struggled throughout the weekend in Austria owing to the higher temperatures.
The Brit spent the opening lap locked in a fierce side-by-side battle with his former team-mate Lewis Hamilton, but held station until the Safety Car. After the restart, he resumed his challenge and shadowed the Ferrari through the early laps.
But he struggled for pace for the duration of the race and finished a lonely fifth, over a minute behind the winner, a stark contrast to his Canadian GP triumph.

Hamilton takes fourth after leading briefly
Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton had another unremarkable, yet consistent race for Ferrari, finishing where he started in fourth.
As others made their first stops, Hamilton temporarily inherited the race lead before boxing on Lap 26 for Hards.
Following each stop, he fought back through the pack, but ultimately ended up fourth, almost half a minute shy of the McLarens.
Bearman battles to ninth after early stop
Ollie Bearman climbed three places on the opening lap to move from 15th to 12th, but was one of the first to pit around Lap 11, dropping to the back of the field. That offset his tyre life meaning he ran out of grip earlier in the stints than those around him, making for a difficult race.
A strong middle stint saw him make steady progress, including a clean, decisive move on Pierre Gasly for ninth on Lap 36.
Eventually, Ollie came home 11th, just missing out on a points finish after a race of mixed fortunes.
Piastri pushes Norris to the limit
Having been on the back foot compared to his team-mate all weekend, Oscar Piastri got the jump on Leclerc around the outside of Turn 1 and slotted into second before the Safety Car briefly halted proceedings.
He applied consistent pressure on Norris through the opening stint, capitalising on Lando’s mistake on Lap 11 to momentarily snatch the lead before the pair traded places again within a few corners.

A lunge into Turn 4 on Lap 20 saw Piastri lock up and narrowly avoid contact with the sister car, but both drivers emerged unscathed.
He boxed on Lap 24 for Hards and rejoined fourth, then stopped again on Lap 54 for mediums, right after being squeezed towards the barriers by Franco Colapinto.
During the second and third stints, Piastri steadily chipped away at Norris’ advantage, bringing down a six-second deficit to under two seconds in the final laps. But he never got close enough to activate DRS again and had to settle for second.
