Sergio Perez, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc on the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix podium

F1 schedule 2024 - calendar, results & standings

The opening two rounds of the 2024 F1 season started with a familiar face atop the podium. Max Verstappen picked up where he left off in the Middle East, duly dominating the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix just as he had done in Abu Dhabi three months prior. But a potentially season-defining moment presented itself at the Australian Grand Prix. There, the Dutchman's RB20 faltered. Disaster for Red Bull meant opportunity for Ferrari and Carlos Sainz, who seized it with both hands to take a famous victory at his first race after returning from surgery.

With the Scuderia and Red Bull seemingly occupying the top four spots, the remaining 16 positions are wide open. McLaren, Mercedes and Aston Martin are battling it out for the remaining points whilst the second half of the grid is closer still.

With upgrades expected for many of the front-running teams at the Japanese Grand Prix, the competitive order could be about to undergo another reshuffle. If we've learned anything from the opening three rounds, it's that the 2024 F1 championship isn't as straightforward as we initially thought.

When is the next F1 race?

Round 4 of the 2024 F1 season - The Japanese Grand Prix - is set to take place from Friday, 5 April to Sunday, 7 April at the legendary Suzuka International Racing Course.

F1 standings 2024: drivers’ championship

Red Bull's mechanical woes down under have shone a spotlight on the drivers' standings, and an impressive performance from Sainz in Australia has led many people to speculate that he'd be atop the pile if he hadn't had to sit out the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with appendicitis.
