06 July 2026MotoGP's biggest rider market shakeup in years has begun to take shape as teams prepare for the introduction of new technical regulations in 2027.
With new 850cc machines arriving next season, manufacturers have wasted little time assembling their rider line-ups who will be leading development into the sport's next chapter.
Pedro Acosta joins Marc Marquez at Ducati
One of the biggest stories of the rider market is Pedro Acosta's move to the Ducati Lenovo Team, where he'll partner seven-time MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez from 2027.
Acosta has established himself as one of MotoGP's brightest stars since arriving in the premier class, following title-winning campaigns in both Moto3 and Moto2.
After claiming Rookie of the Year honours in 2024 and becoming a consistent podium challenger, the Spaniard will now step into one of the most coveted seats on the grid. His arrival also unites two riders who have produced some unforgettable battles.
Marquez, meanwhile, has also committed his future to Ducati through to the end of 2028. After securing a remarkable seventh premier-class title in 2025, the Spaniard has fought back from injury during 2026 to return to winning ways and title contention in 2026.
Francesco Bagnaia completes blockbuster Aprilia move
Two-time MotoGP World Champion Francesco Bagnaia will swap Ducati for Aprilia Racing in 2027, having agreed a long-term contract to partner current championship contender Marco Bezzecchi in an all-Italian factory line-up.
Bagnaia brings a wealth of experience having collected more than 40 MotoGP victories and established himself as a leading premier-class rider.
With the RS-GP occupying the top two positions in the standings, Aprilia will head into MotoGP's new technical era with one of the strongest line-ups on the grid.
Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura lead Yamaha's rebuild
Yamaha has also made a major statement by securing current championship leader Jorge Martin alongside rising star Ai Ogura for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
Martin arrives with world championship-winning experience and has continued to establish himself as one of MotoGP's fastest riders after moving to Aprilia.
Alongside him, Ogura has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign, recently becoming the first Japanese rider to win a MotoGP Grand Prix in more than two decades.
KTM unveil completely new factory line-up
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing will field an entirely fresh rider pairing in 2027 after confirming Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
Marquez joins after several successful seasons that have seen him develop into a multiple Grand Prix winner and one of the championship's most consistent performers.
Alongside him, Di Giannantonio arrives following the strongest period of his MotoGP career. The Italian has established himself among the championship frontrunners in 2026, adding another Grand Prix victory to his growing list of achievements while moving into third in the standings.
Daniel Holgado earns MotoGP promotion
The first confirmed rookie for 2027 is Daniel Holgado, who will make the step up to the premier class with BK8 Gresini Racing.
The Spaniard has impressed throughout his junior career, winning races in both Moto3 and Moto2.
His performances during the last two seasons have convinced Gresini to hand him a MotoGP opportunity, although the identity of his future team-mate has yet to be announced.
