Verstappen untouchable in Austin
Having fended off George Russell to take victory in Saturday’s Sprint, Verstappen controlled the Grand Prix on Sunday with trademark composure and relentless pace.
The Dutchman held his lead at the start and never looked back, managing his tyres through the early phases before streaking clear in the final stint to take his third Grand Prix win in four events.
The result completed a near-perfect weekend, with the points accrued from Sprint and Grand Prix wins together pulling him to within 40 points of Piastri in the championship standings.

Norris comes out on top in fierce Leclerc duel
Having retired from the Sprint at Turn 1 after contact with his team-mate, the only way was up for Norris on Sunday.
Starting second, Lando slipped behind Leclerc off the line and was immediately on the attack. He pressed the Ferrari hard across the opening stint, twice coming close to a pass at Turn 12, but track limit penalties loomed during the battle.
Finally, on Lap 21, Norris pulled off a clean move into Turn 12 to seize second. However, a slow stop on Lap 33 dropped him back behind Leclerc once again.

Undeterred, Norris mounted another charge late in the race. On Lap 51 he dived to the inside of Turn 1, only for Leclerc to cut back.
Norris quickly regrouped, launched another move into Turn 12, and this time made it stick. He crossed the line second, a result that cut the points deficit down to 14 points between himself and his team-mate.
Hamilton edges Piastri for fourth
With a fourth-place finish from the Sprint in his back pocket, Lewis Hamilton lined up fifth for the Grand Prix, gaining a place from Russell at the start to move up to fourth. The Ferrari driver went toe-to-toe with his team-mate for third, before he was brought in to change tyres.
In the closing laps, he came under huge pressure from Piastri, who had been running behind him since the stops.
On the final lap the McLaren loomed large in his mirrors, but Hamilton held firm to cross the line in fourth place to cap off a consistent and encouraging weekend for the seven-time champion.
Piastri anonymous in Austin
After his Turn 1 Sprint Race retirement, Piastri started sixth in the Grand Prix but gained a place on the opening lap, relegating Russell. From there, however, the championship leader struggled to make significant progress.
Despite closing in on Hamilton in the final laps, Piastri couldn’t find a way through and was forced to settle for fifth.

Russell marooned in sixth
Russell’s Sprint podium promised much, but his Grand Prix was largely uneventful and unspectacular. Starting fourth, he lost out to both Piastri and Hamilton off the line, falling to sixth.
From there, the Mercedes driver spent much of the race in no man’s land, unable to catch the Ferrari-McLaren fight ahead. He crossed the line sixth, adding solid points but leaving Austin dejected after a special result in Singapore.
Bearman spins but scores again
Ollie Bearman endured a mixed weekend in Austin. After briefly finishing eighth in the Sprint before a penalty dropped him to last, he bounced back in Sunday’s race.
Lining up eighth, Bearman held position early on but slipped behind Carlos Sainz and Yuki Tsunoda. After Sainz retired and Kimi Antonelli spun, he was back into eighth.
His hopes of more were dashed on Lap 35 when he spun while battling Tsunoda, losing a spot to Nico Hülkenberg. Still, he recovered to finish ninth, adding yet more points to his growing rookie tally.
