Antonelli withstands pressure to extend points lead
Kimi Antonelli’s weekend began with a solid Sprint performance, recovering from a difficult start to finish fourth on the road before a post-race penalty demoted him to sixth.
Starting from pole in the Grand Prix, Antonelli initially lost out to both Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc at Turn 1, only to be handed a reprieve when Verstappen spun, allowing him back into second.
Antonelli briefly took the lead back from Leclerc on Lap 4, before losing it again the following lap, then traded positions with the Monegasque and Lando Norris a number of times in the opening stint.
After finally securing second from Leclerc, Antonelli used the undercut to good effect in the pit phase. Stopping on Lap 26, he emerged just ahead of Norris.
From there, Antonelli absorbed the pressure. Norris loomed large in the closing laps, hovering within a second, but the Mercedes driver never faltered. Crossing the line three seconds clear, Antonelli secured another statement victory and tightened his grip on the points lead.

Norris follows Sprint win with strong second
Lando Norris’ weekend had already delivered silverware before the Grand Prix came around, with a composed Sprint victory from pole. He controlled the race from the front and was never seriously challenged as he converted his strong start into maximum Sprint points.
Starting fourth in the Grand Prix, Norris wasted little time slicing through the field, benefitting from the spinning Verstappen before closing rapidly on the battling Antonelli and Leclerc.
He passed Antonelli just before the Lap 6 Safety Car, and at the restart, wasted no time dispatching Leclerc to take the lead.
However, the race turned during the pit cycle. Norris stopped on Lap 27, but emerged just behind Antonelli having been undercut by the Italian, handing the upper hand back to Mercedes.
Despite applying pressure in the final stint, Norris couldn’t find a way through. He shadowed Antonelli to the flag, but crucially picked up his first Grand Prix podium of the season.

Russell distant in fourth
George Russell’s Sprint saw him embroiled in a tight scrap with team-mate Antonelli, eventually finishing fifth.
Having qualified fifth for the Grand Prix, Russell lost ground early before recovering to run in the top five.
After the Safety Car and pitstops, he had dropped to sixth, before launching a late-race recovery.
On Lap 55, he began applying pressure to Verstappen and made decisive moves on both the Dutchman, and Leclerc in the final corners of the race to salvage fourth.
An anonymous weekend for Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton’s Sprint featured a feisty scrap with Verstappen, briefly gaining a position before ultimately slipping back to seventh.
In the Grand Prix, he made a clean start, despite early contact with Franco Colapinto, recovering to hold sixth by the end of the opening lap.
As the race unfolded, Hamilton lacked the pace to hold position owing to the earlier contact. Verstappen reclaimed fourth, and Hamilton gradually drifted back down the order.
By the flag, he had slipped to seventh, but a post-race penalty for team-mate Leclerc elevated him to sixth.
Bearman misses out on points
Ollie Bearman’s Sprint was relatively uneventful, finishing 13th after starting in the same position.
In the Grand Prix, he showed stronger race pace. Starting 13th, he briefly dropped back on Lap 1 before recovering through the opening stint.
By the time the Safety Car was deployed, Bearman had climbed to 11th, and from there, he ran consistently in that position.
Despite holding position through the pit stops and keeping within reach of the points, he was unable to break into the top 10, ultimately finishing 11th.
Lindblad makes progress in Miami Grand Prix
Arvid Lindblad’s Sprint ended prematurely with retirement, marking his second Sprint DNF in 2026.
In the Grand Prix, he started 17th after an early qualifying exit but made immediate progress, gaining two positions on the opening lap.
He ran as high as 13th before the Safety Car was deployed, and although strategy and race pace worked against him in the second half, Lindblad finished 14th having risen three positions from his grid spot.
