Silverstone Donates McLaren GT4 Race Car to Support Nordoff and Robbins Fundraising Efforts
30 June 2026- Bid on this race ready McLaren GT4 from 2 July over at Iconic Auctioneers
Silverstone has donated a race-ready McLaren 570 GT4 to Nordoff and Robbins, the UK's largest music therapy charity, to help raise vital funds for its life-changing work across the UK.
The 2017 McLaren GT4 will be offered through a live online auction, giving motorsport enthusiasts and collectors the opportunity to own an exceptional piece of racing machinery while supporting an important charitable cause.
The online auction, hosted by Iconic Auctioneers, opens on 2 July with bidders able to place offers ahead of the final live auction taking place at the 50th anniversary of the prestigious O2 Silver Clef Awards on 9 July at London's Royal Albert Hall.
The race-ready car has covered approximately 10,000km and is running the desirable Trophy Map. Built around McLaren's renowned 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, it is paired with a race-specification 7-speed transmission and comes equipped with Alcon brakes, an in-date six-point harness, Pirelli slick tyres, and a fully installed VBOX data-logging system.
The successful bidder will receive an exclusive ownership package designed to maximise their enjoyment of the car, including 12 months' vehicle storage at Silverstone, an ARDS course, the mandatory qualification for those wishing to compete in UK motorsport, and an overnight stay at Escapade Silverstone, the circuit's luxury trackside accommodation.
Funds raised through the auction will support Nordoff and Robbins' mission to enrich lives through music therapy. The charity works with thousands of people nationwide, helping children and adults affected by life-limiting illness, disability, trauma, isolation and mental health challenges to connect, communicate and truly express themselves through the power of music.
The O2 Silver Clef Awards is Nordoff and Robbins’ largest annual fundraising event. Since 1976, it has raised over £17m for the charity, becoming one of the highlights in the music industry calendar. Across five decades, funds raised have played a key part in fuelling the charity’s growth from a London-based operation delivering music therapy to hundreds of people, to a nationwide organisation that supported 15,500 people through 48,000 music therapy sessions in 2025, partnering with over 300 organisations including schools, hospitals and care homes across the UK.
This unique initiative reflects Silverstone's ongoing commitment to creating positive social impact through its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. As part of its wider commitment to supporting communities and charitable causes, Silverstone seeks to use its platform, assets and influence to make a meaningful difference beyond motorsport. The donation of the McLaren GT4 demonstrates how the circuit continues to combine its passion for motorsport with a commitment to delivering lasting benefits for individuals and communities.
Nick Read, Chief Commercial Officer at Silverstone, said: "We're delighted to support Nordoff and Robbins through the donation of this exceptional McLaren GT4. This auction offers motorsport fans a truly unique opportunity to own a remarkable race car while contributing to the incredible work the charity does every day. Supporting communities and creating positive social impact is an important part of Silverstone's ESG strategy, and we're proud to play our part in helping Nordoff and Robbins continue to change lives through music therapy."
Sandy Trappitt, Director of Fundraising, Nordoff and Robbins, said: "We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Silverstone team in donating this spectacular McLaren GT4 race car to Nordoff and Robbins for our O2 Silver Clef Awards 50th anniversary auction. By opening this special lot up to an online audience in addition to those joining us at the ceremony, we hope to increase our chances of raising as much money as possible to help us continue providing vital music therapy and training future music therapists. We are incredibly grateful to Silverstone and look forward to the auction going live on 2 July."
