Hamilton extends Silverstone record

Meanwhile, Leclerc's victory was his first at Silverstone, and his first Formula 1 win since the 2024 United States Grand Prix, ending a lengthy wait to return to the top step.

George Russell also celebrated his first British Grand Prix podium, giving the home crowd another driver to celebrate on Sunday afternoon.

A 21-year age gap at the front

In the sprint, championship leader Kimi Antonelli and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton found themselves battling wheel-to-wheel.

The duel showcased a remarkable 22-year age difference between the two drivers, with 19-year-old new-generation driver Antonelli racing against 41-year-old veteran Hamilton.

A tightening title fight

George Russell leaves the British Grand Prix 25 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli, while Lewis Hamilton sits just seven points further back, keeping both British drivers firmly in the fight as the Formula 1 season heads into its second half.
